Just got off the phone with Apple, to ask my first-world question...how much would I get back in trade-in on my (month-old) Series 5 if I wanted to get the Series 6 JUST FOR THE BLUE COLOR. Well...way short of enough, lol.

As for needing the cellular, I had originally purchased the cellular, but a week later traded it back in for the GPS only; the killer app for me did not work independently of my phone anyway, so that particular use would not benefit. And then I thought "when am I ever without my phone REALLY?" and decided it wasn't worth the $100.
Not just the extra $100, but the monthly wearables plan from your carrier! To me, there just aren't enough fully functioning independent apps for watch. Spotify, for instance, is *just* getting around to beta testing cellular only function.

I’d love to leave my phone behind on hikes or neighborhood walks. But I haven’t been able to convince myself I do that often enough for the $10’ish per month it would cost to add a watch to my cell plan. But every year I consider it.

Anyone with an "Edition" (Titanium) on order get a status update yet?
I'm still at "Processing" and "Arrives Oct 14 - Oct 21".

I got the shipping origin notice for mine this morning. Arriving the 28th, allegedly.

My S3 watch still works fine, but this last upgrade to watchOS 7 was a pain because the S3 only has 8GB storage.

In deciding which product to buy, I figure I will keep a new watch another 3 years like my S3, so that extra $100 buys me some new features, a faster CPU than the SE, and is only $33 more each year I keep it. A good investment to me (as well as resale value better on S6 than SE).
I agree with that analysis, but I think as the product matures and gets more powerful, the necessity of getting the absolute top of the line becomes less. For instance I would have definitely bought the Series 4 or Series 5 over the Series 3...but the SE is now essentially the 6 with a couple of subtractions. I think we're at a point where getting an SE is not sacrificing so much. I can amortize the upcharge over the expected time of usage, that is also a very valid point, and if the watch is used for three years as you suggest (a very reasonable amount of time), that's less than $3 a month. So that's a very good point and one that would make me think longer at it.

(This is all from someone who bought each version of the iPhone SE as soon as they were released, lol)

Not sure why you’d pay that much more for a coloured case and a blood oxygen app you’ll probably never use. It runs a little bit faster, charges a little bit faster and that’s about it.
Until they release a watch with actual fast charging, personally I’d go for the SE.

The blood oxygen, in addition to the "always on" feature, are the main reasons I will be getting it to replace my Series 4. It will be interesting to see how good the blood O2 monitoring feature is.

I agree it's not just the $100 but the extra $10 per month...BUT, if I were spending the extra $10 a month that suggests that I had a good reason to USE the cellular (I assume), so I would hope I was getting a good benefit in return. When I bought my Series 5 I originally bought the cellular not because I needed it now, but against the possibility that at a near-future date I would want it. So it was a $100 investment into near-future-proofing. I just decided that that investment was throwing money down a hole.

I know what you (darkside) mean about reevaluating. I did that every year with my previous iPhone SE. Was this year's batch of phones worth upgrading? My answer was "no" until we got to this year and the next SE, which is an upgrade but not in the same sense as buying an 11 or waiting for a 12. It's kicking the can down the road a bit, lol.

My 40mm Blue Cellular is out for delivery. I wish FedEx had vehicle location tracking like UPS does so I had an idea when it would be delivered. I'm worried about missing the driver if I go jogging. #FirstWorldProblems

The blue looks even better in person.

If the iPhone 12 comes in that color it's gonna be really difficult to resist selling off my Series 4 and upgrading to a Series 6 just so my phone matches my watch.

I’m on the series 4, and I can pick up a series 6 today. I was able to pass on series 5 last year, so I should be able to pass on this one too. But here I am, staring at my Apple Store cart...

I'm not crazy about the red or blue. I don't know why I imagined a more navy blue, but this one seems a bit brighter. I think there will be plenty of people that get them, but I won't likely be one of them.

I held off for years on buying Apple Watches for me and my wife. Bought Nike 5’s last year, cellular models through AT&T, mainly because they offered a BOGO deal, which was a good way to justify the added monthly cellular cost. I can’t say either of use the always connected capabilities every day, but there have been enough times, like going to the beach, walking the dogs and biking, where we no longer have to bring our iPhones, which has been worth it. I’m not even tempted to upgrade, even if it would give us a reason to give our existing Watches to the one kid and my mother-in-law who could use them. I will order a couple of new bands to try though, as the one piece bands look super interesting (especially the braided version).

anyone get the product red watch can attest to how it looks in person? in pictures and promos and all it looks very bright red compared to the blue which looks more deeper darker shade, which is a bit of a shame if true

cancel the online order? You shouldn’t be charged until the moment it actually ships. That’s what I did when I woke up this morning

It charged, but that's not the point. They were able to ship the watch to a store 20 minutes from my house. My preordered watch hasn't even shipped yet. Preorders should be getting their stuff before walk-ins. At the very least, it should be *shipped* before walk-ins...

I've got to assume that certain models/finishes are being shipped quicker than others, because my order was placed on Tuesday and has been "preparing to ship" for a couple of days now. :(

And no, of course I'm not obsessively refreshing my order status page. (Excuse me while I switch browser tabs for a moment...)

I’m surprised the S6 has received such attention given that it’s such a minor update. I’d be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone with a S3 or newer.

I myself will wait another year before handing down my AW5.

I want to know who the hell wears the crown like that?

I had to lookup how one even goes about changing the orientation, and apparently it’s a setting. The article I found argues that using our thumb is a more natural way to press in the crown anyway. And while scrolling with your thumb, your index finger is already in the right place for the screen.

They kinda convinced me to at least try it. But I don’t know that I could break so many years of what I’m used to.

"Key new features of the Apple Watch Series 6 include blood oxygen measuring, up to 20 percent faster performance than the Series 5, a 2.5-times brighter always-on display outdoors in a wrist-down position, a next-generation always-on altimeter... "

It'll be interesting to read reviews of the S6, esp. for its battery life, after people get them considering that it's the same battery as the ones in the S5.

Question for those who have has received theirs. Is the charging puck the same as the old ones. Wasn't sure if it's a new cable/puck since it now supports faster charging.

Hmmm that blue looks more shiny than I thought and less subtle. I hope I like it more in person when I pick mine up lol
I just unboxed my blue watch with the dark navy sport band, and it looks beautiful. The color is very subtle and almost looks black indoors. Obviously outdoors in the bright sun, you will see more blue.

It's definitely NOT a cheap looking blue.
