Just got off the phone with Apple, to ask my first-world question...how much would I get back in trade-in on my (month-old) Series 5 if I wanted to get the Series 6 JUST FOR THE BLUE COLOR. Well...way short of enough, lol.

As for needing the cellular, I had originally purchased the cellular, but a week later traded it back in for the GPS only; the killer app for me did not work independently of my phone anyway, so that particular use would not benefit. And then I thought "when am I ever without my phone REALLY?" and decided it wasn't worth the $100.
Re: cellular - I have a bit of an issue talking into my watch so, for me, I went without cellular on my AW5.

They’re not available for pick up in stores at US right???
[automerge]1600436975[/automerge]

I’m still at processing :/

actually, yes there are. you could not order one yesterday online for pick up today, but as of this morning, here in MA, you could go online, order for pickup at the store today... I got two that way. ba da bing, ba da boom.

My blue arrived at 8.40am this morning in the U.K.

Went for the blue and I’m not disappointed. It’s very subtle but looks really nice.

I couldn’t get it with the sport loop on EPP so I bought it separately and it looks so good.
And it’s a £1 selling weekend on eBay so my S3 will be going on there tomorrow.

I haven’t had the courage to put my black Milanese loop on it yet but I think it won’t look good.

I think the problem is that AW sort of needs to be in constant communication with the device, either via BT or WIFI. I think many people have their iPhone on them or next to them, whereas the iPad...not so much, and the AW may not function as well.

I think you can now set up watches for others who don’t have an iPhone at least, like kids and seniors.

Looks the same to me. Suckers... Ha jk. But I am surprised apple didn't add some distingishing feature like a ring around the turning piece, to make people realize thier watch is out of date and they need to upgrade (or did they?)
Blue and Red kind of say that

Just ordered the 44 mm SS with the Leather Band Link, not Leather Band Loop. Delivery to Norway, Nov 2.

Ordered from the app store today and picked up at local Apple store. Screw delivery lol.

Don't know how so many watches are getting delivered today... Mine seems to be in Japan and isn't scheduled until 9/25 - which is a bummer!

I like that Apple is offering more of the metallic colors with blue and gloss red, but my biggest gripe would be trying to have the watch stand out way too much with those colors. I probably prefer the subtleness of the Standard aluminum or the 316L stainless being my ‘Go-to.’

Not sure why you’d pay that much more for a coloured case and a blood oxygen app you’ll probably never use.
Have you read the first-hand accounts in Twitter, YouTube, or Reddit from caregivers of people sick with COVID-19?

In April I started reading these to be better prepared if I or anyone in my family contracts Coronavirus.

Quotes from the tips sheet I've accumulated:
"As a caretaker I recommend keeping an hourly log of..."
[...]
- pulse ox
[...]

Hourly.

I would rather rely on an Apple Watch that I could keep on my wrist to measure, or, better, that would alert if at 15 min after the hour my pulse oxidation takes a dive.

I would rather rely on an Apple Watch that I know I could easily re-charge than the pulse oximeter that I researched for my dad ~ 5 years ago. I did not have the replacement batteries to make it work when I needed it for someone else.

PS: When I was trying to find that quote I opened the google doc...

One comment from someone COVID diary stuck in my head:

"It took 10 minutes of concentration to get the energy to reach for the bottle of water on my nightstand and take a sip."

That made me decide to put together a "go bag" with things I could easily grab to help the symptoms. It seems things can go downhill very quickly, and I'd rather not need to drive to a drugstore while sick or better located caring for someone else.

I added things to "Coronavirus go bags" as I read the first hand accounts from people sick or their caregivers.

I haven't modified it since May (seems like eons ago). My bag has:

Prescription Cough meds (Benzonatate?), Tylenol, Famitodine, prescription anti-nausea, Pedialyte, Bone Broth, albuterol inhaler, expired Z-pak script to remind me to ask for a new one if justified, Benadryl, pulse oximeter, thermometer, sweat rag, 10 foot extra long iPhone charging cable + wall plug, paperback book I've always wanted to read, empty water bottle to remind me to take water if I get sick and need go somewhere

"I was mildly sick for a few days w/ covid symptoms. Then my 29 yr old healthy boyfriend got really sick. 13 days later, after a relentless fever, awful nausea, pneumonia in both lungs + a reluctant trip to ER, he is finally turning a corner today. Some things I learned:

Pulse ox taken manually - seems sketchy
1) Roth method
2) from a doctor's YouTube
If you don’t have a pulse oximeter,
a manual way to assess someone’s oxygen saturation at a distance
Take deep breath. Count from 1 to 30 out loud. Healthy gets to 30 in 9 seconds.
If max # is < 10 or counting time is less than 7 seconds, OX sat is less than 95%.
If max # is < 7, or counting time < 5 seconds, OX saturation is 90%
--{ comment - If I were sick with COVID-19, I'd probably pass out from trying that! }--

Alexa tells me as of today, Sep 18 2020, according to Johns Hopkins, there have been
6 million, 674 hundred thousand + cases of confirmed Coronavirus in the United States.

Hopefully when Apple gets the bugs worked out, measuring pulse oxidation will be made much easier and more automatic.

that blue looks like IN YR FACE blue.

it tried to be too many things to too many people.

this blue is a failure.
especially paired as in the photo with a blue band.

I'd have to see it in person, but I'm not feeling it either.
IMO, it needs some contrast or variation of hue.

My S6 in blue was supposed to arrive today in Colorado (30 minutes west of Denver). It was showing "in transit" from Memphis at 5:45 a.m. this morning. Still showing it at 1:45 p.m.

Chances of it actually arriving by 8 p.m. today as promised, Fed Ex? Not holding my breath.

Blood Oxygen is not working with iOS 14.2 Beta 1 and watchOS 7.1 Beta 1
After upgrading the new Apple Watch to 7.1B1 Blood Oxygen App was unable to open and after deleting it it was unavailable to reinstall.

Anybody else facing these issues?

Properly not the wisest move, installing a 1st beta on a brand new device. Good luck with that. You have to hope it isn’t broken through all of the betas if u want to use it. 😂😂😂

If anyone gets a Steel or Titanium Watch 6, could you please take a look at the back, whether it says „Sapphire Crystal“ or „Ion-X-Glass“? TIA!

Edit: Answering myself here: Sapphire Crystal confirmed: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...atch-se-unboxing-videos.2254903/post-28906598

Not sure why you’d pay that much more for a coloured case and a blood oxygen app you’ll probably never use. It runs a little bit faster, charges a little bit faster and that’s about it.
Until they release a watch with actual fast charging, personally I’d go for the SE.
20% faster charge is nothing to sneeze at and while a 20% faster CPU sounds little on paper, I read somewhere that it‘d feel much faster in real life.

Amongst the other improvements already mentioned in another post (better AOD, W3 & U1 chip etc.) the S6 Chip should have increased efficiency, so by switching off what you don’t need (like AOD, Ox measurements etc.) you should also get a better battery life in return with the S6.

And what I personally find very intriguing for the AW 6, is the support for 5 GHz WLAN networks.

Not to forget: 50% louder speaker - great for e.g. making phone calls on your watch.

Not just the extra $100, but the monthly wearables plan from your carrier! To me, there just aren't enough fully functioning independent apps for watch. Spotify, for instance, is *just* getting around to beta testing cellular only function.
For me, the mere option of being able to make/receive phone calls without an iPhone already justifies the additional monthly cost, even if I’m far from using/needing it on a daily basis.

I’m surprised the S6 has received such attention given that it’s such a minor update. I’d be hard pressed to recommend it to anyone with a S3 or newer.
You‘re kidding, right? Even the S4 was a massive upgrade over the S3 - the S6 is an even bigger upgrade.

We can argue over the dwindling differences with more recent versions, but - taken all the minor improvements together - I feel that an S4 to S6 upgrade is absolutely justifiable.

And with many people having claimed that the S5 was basically an S4 with an AOD slapped on, I would say an upgrade can be plausibly justified even there.

Of course ymmv.

Got both the Space Gray and Blue this morning at my local Apple Store. No lines, no stress. After lots of consideration I returned the blue one. It looks nice but I would get tired of it. Also, it won’t work well with all colors of bands and I have many. I think for me the Space Gray is the safe bet.
