Apple Watch Series 6 Shipping/Order Status Thread

Status, Preparing shipping, Apple Watch Series 6 GPS 40MM Blue Aluminum Case with Braided Solo Loop. Says it arrives on the 29th. Country = Portugal

What, what? Fedex? I thought Apple used UPS only. I got a fedex notification that 'a' package is on its way for Friday delivery (doesn't tell me what), my order is listed as a sept 25 date but has changed to PFS, and I don't know what else fedex could be shipping, but I am going crazy checking for an email from apple saying shipped, or here for anyone reporting same.
Typically Apple uses UPS for pre-orders. Apple does use Fedex as well. Most of my apple orders are shipped via Fedex. Only time Apple uses UPS to deliver to me is a CTO MBP or pre-order (like iphones)

Ordered yesterday two - original date estimated for one was 25th-29th, and the other 29th - 1st. Both preparing for shipment.

Available for pickup on release day from Best Buy in Manhattan NY

Also available at Mount Vernon and Westbury NY stores from BB

If the watches haven’t entered preparing to ship phase, you can still cancel. I always try and get a default band or one that has been around a while. That way, I don’t run into what you did. I buy the bands I want for the new watch separately.

Hopefully, you will like your new watch. I think the new leather loops are ugly, compared to the former style.

Yay!! Placed my order today: 40 mm Space Gray with garnet leather modern buckle strap :Dexpecting delivery September 30 - October 2. I wanted the solo loop but I can't do silicone bands, bummer.

What do you think would go well with the Apple watch? What type of band? any opinions on that.

I am a humble retired manufacturing guy who hand-built the first computer (Heathkit) for my small family-owned corp in the mid 80's.

Kudos!

I love it when small business owners go hands-on and embrace new technology.

I started out wire-wrapping an 8008 kit in the early 70's, my friend Eric built an Altair kit (circuit board soldering, like your HeathKit). I lived in Detroit at that time, and had a software development business with two others, and I remember we had a client in Ann Arbor that we called "The Snoop Sisters". Two sisters that owned a resale shop. They bought an Altos (not Altair) computer, which had a giant I think 14" disk drive with what we would consider a laughable amount of storage. And it was EXPENSIVE. We wrote an inventory system for them. For the first time, the Snoop Sisters knew exactly what they had in stock and where and could easily search for it.

And there was a business down the street from us that we did a little consulting for. It was some sort of import business, and the owner wrote his own accounting system in Microsoft Basic (running on DOS at the time). He just needed some looking over the shoulder for the fine points. I was impressed that he built the software all by himself, and it did exactly what HIS business needed!

I actually had a client that was using the Heathkits for industrial control processes and inspection/gauging.

Seen plenty of Altairs in auto plants in those early days, as I did a lot of industrial control/gauging/CNC stuff. Worked for a company that designed a CNC controller using a Z80 chip and that wound up being the Allen-Bradley 7000? or 8000? series. (They sold out to A-B). Anyway, their first microprocessor model, before that they used HP minicomputers.

Sorry, I digress, back to watch shipments!

Let’s hope it ships early, I’m mid Nov. I’m upgrading from a Series 4. Excited about the woven solo band.

I ordered the identical watch and got the same disappointing delivery estimate. Must be a supply problem with the band, or maybe just the wrist size. But, hey, it's the one I really like so I can wait. I'll have time to dig into the user guide. Excited tho.
