The current AW design is very dated looking.
"dated" looking designs often are these classics, everyone copies, because they are kind of iconic.
Rolex could make a square Submariner, but I doubt, they will change the general appearance for just that reason.

Oh shoot! You are correct! I missed that part haha. I’m Sorry!

Besides cosmetic changes, the Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to include improved performance, battery life, and health tracking capabilities.

Well then I hope it’s a big boost of the battery life 😜 2 day non stop battery life would be excellent.
We won't be seeing that kind of battery life with the watch this release or the next several, in my opinion. More than likely, there will be a very modest battery increase of maybe 30 minutes.

Infograph Modular is my most-used watch face. Very curious how they‘ll update that one and (hopefully) make it even better.
Yes and make it so I can put 3 complications across the middle....so I can have 9 total. make it able to have the time smaller as I don't think of it as a watch as much as an extension of the iPhone.

The watch body is 1mm larger, but given the new flat sides thay may be able to reduce the bezel, making the screen significantly bigger.
It could be but there would still be no justification for making it a 7 exclusive I’d say. Many of the new ones that were done for the 4 could have been done for the 3 if they wanted. Sure, it may not have looked as nice overall but it could have been done.

1mm case plus a bigger screen with less bezels. The new design probably uses a smaller curve in the glass sides as well, so the net gain will probably be more than it looks on paper.
There will most likely be no curve on the glass, it would go flush to the square edged case, so it could gain a few mm larger image.

Why don’t they open watch faces to developers and sell them on the store for like … $1.00?

If you buy a Rolex, Rolex tells you, what watchface will be on your watch, because they designed it to make it look like a Rolex. On a smartwatch you can change the face by yourself, but I think Apple still would like to make it look like an Apple Watch. So, they determine what the face will look like.

Out of curiousity I have got a Huwawei GT2 Pro - just to get the feeling to have endless watchfaces. There are even hacks, that allow Rolex watchfaces. You know what? There are some nice faces. Most of them look .... not good at all.

You do not miss a lot without a free watchface market. Most of them are not worth to be shown on your watch.

it is? i truly dont think most care about the design of the AW enough to consider it "dated" yet. they're not timepieces, and the only reason to look at one is for the clock, or notifications. essentially, just the screen.

caring about looks on a watch somewhat requires buying a watch where its look matters tremendously...

The AW is an extremely functional computer on a wrist, it does things that no other watch can compare with… that said, it is not (at least in my opinion) an elegant piece of wrist jewelry. It’s a very good appliance. The people who want a wrist computer love it and the people who want an elegant timepiece with some light features are not as enthused. The AW7 does not change that value proposition.

wonder if the 7 will have this watch face that hasn’t been released into the wild as of yet in the watchOS 8 betas?

So, no different to the watch faces supplied by Apple.
There are some, I do regard as questionable - that graphic "face" thing for example, but most of them are very well designed.

Try a Huawei or a Samsung smartwatch and see, what better you get. The Huawei GT2 Pro syncs very well with an iPhone - not recording the standing hours though...

The grass is always greener on the other side ;)

I'm actually very skeptical about this redesign. The flat edges is not the best design for a object that you wear on your wrist and 45mm is getting really chunky.
Right? That extra 1 mm is going to be GINORMOUS!!!! It adds the literal thickness of a credit card.

The hair width size increase aside, I do agree with the flat edge design. Hopefully it's flat sides with the actual edges being beveled/rounded a bit.

I might be alone here, but I wish they would make round watches.
I'm honestly surprised they haven't as a second model for some diversity.

Android Wear and Tizen can't touch the Apple Watch, but a lot of the actual hardware design has been pretty good... particularly when the round frame works similar to the crown on the Apple watch.

I've had a series 0, 1, 4 and currently have a series 5.
I just want the Apple Watch to work better at the stuff it is already supposed to.

The percentage of times I just say some simple like:
Hey Siri... Start outdoor walk
and and still get
no response
or
"Sorry, I didn't get that"
or
"sorry, I’m having trouble connecting to the network"
or
"sorry, try again in a little bit"
or
"playing Walking on sunshine by Katrina and the Waves"
or
"hmmmm..."
or
"Yes?"

is unbelievably frustrating after all these years.

That isn't an Apple Watch problem. It's that stupid #%#%#) Siri who is equally dumb and useless across devices.

Apple also needs to fix proximity with Siri. If your iPhone, watch, and MacBook are all nearby, there doesn't seem to be a good logic for which responds. If I am literally using my MacBook, why does Siri think responding on my phone that is on the charger is a good idea? When I have my Beats buds in and I haven't raised my wrist, why does Siri decide to answer on my watch but won't answer on my watch when I have it raised to my face?

But as you noted, the real problem is when she does answer. If it were a drinking game and everyone had to do a shot everytime she answered wrong, we'd all be dead from alcohol poisoning.
