What about better battery life? The battery life desperately needs the attention.
At least for me I’m not finding that to be the case. Each year I upgrade to the next version (always aluminum & space gray) so right now I have the 6 & the 5 on hand. One is always charging, and I swap them out every 24 hours or so. They work well for me through the days & the nights. Next month I’ll purchase a 7 & trade in my 5.

Maybe that extra millimeter will enable them to show seconds in the Infograph Modular watch face.
Exactly the reason why the Infograph face is useless to me. No Apple, I'm not buying the 7 so I can get exclusive access to seconds on the Infograph face.

how do people with mechanical watches survive? Having to look at the same face day after day after day. Lol
I couldn't go back to a "Dumb" watch I bought a G Shock because it was a vibrant red I wore it once and went back to my AW.

"Larger displays". It's 1mm or 45/44=2.3% larger. As if anyone'd notice...
Apple Watches are sized by case height, not screen diagonal. So your calculation doesn’t take area into account. Assuming the screen is the same aspect ratio and the bezels are proportionally the same (odds are bezels will actually shrink) it’s actually a 31% increase in viewing area. The equivalent in TVs would be going from a 55”to a 72”.

Scratch this. I got the dimensions of the AW SE from a website. It provided the diagonal from the screen. When I calculated the difference I mistakenly used the diagonal of the AW 7 case, not the screen.

The correct value is only 4.5% larger viewing area. So like a 55” to a 57.5” tv. 😒

Apple is such a scabby, stingy mongrel when it comes to watch Faces.
The amount of sh*t watch faces on the watch face store or whatever it's called sits at about 95%. I don't understand why they haven't opened it up or at least employ people with some artistic/design talent.

In saying that, the Apple Watch is grouse.

Should sell amazingly well. My last Apple Watch was the series 4, and like me, i expect a lot us are finally ready for a worthy upgrade.

Could you show in an equation(s) how you calculated this? I understand we don't know the 7 case height, but a reasonable increase is acceptable if you reason out the higher number you use.

Please do that math for me. Okay if it's case height increase of 1mm (2.3%) and I guess 3/4 of a mm in width or whatever. How does that equate to 31%. If it were a square we'd be talking 1.023*1.023=4.6% increase

it is? i truly dont think most care about the design of the AW enough to consider it "dated" yet. they're not timepieces, and the only reason to look at one is for the clock, or notifications. essentially, just the screen.

caring about looks on a watch somewhat requires buying a watch where its look matters tremendously...

Yes. More so than how stylish phones can be. Phones grow dated in appearance. The watch does as well. It’s a mid-decade design that originated in the early years of the last decade. A new design is needed.

Yeah. I made a mistake. Explained it in an edit of my original comment. Your value is correct.

that didnt address any particular reason why a new design is needed, and specifically skipped every point made about why a new design doesnt make a difference

I highly doubt any watch face will ONLY be available for a 1mm larger screen size. Given the current 40mm watch can use the same faces as a 44mm……so now a new 45mm face wont work on a 44? That makes ZERO sense. As usual something is always lost in translation with these “rumors”
New to Apple eh? 😉

I'm actually very skeptical about this redesign. The flat edges is not the best design for a object that you wear on your wrist and 45mm is getting really chunky.
I will reserve judgement until I see the production model — not base it off the bad renders and spoof versions that are floating around.

And I don’t think the 45mm is an increase in overall size but comes from bezel reduction and case shape.

I don’t see Apple making a design change in this product for no good reason.

It wouldn't be that much increase as 4.5% larger area <> 4.5" larger diagonal. Sorry.

I'd appreciate if they fixed the size of that 5x5 pixel icon that displays media is playing first. It's just impossible to hit with top left and right complications.
