What’s not clear is if the Aluminium watches now come with Saphire screens, rather than glass as per previous generations. I have an aluminium S6 and can’t justify upgrading to anything without a more scratch resistant display…

May end up keeping my stainless S5 for another year. The O2 sensor (which my S5 does not have might) be nice for tracking my vO2 when running, but not sure it's worth the presumed $700 upgrade to a stainless cellular S7.

I’ll be interested to see if the biking feature gets passed to previous generations. As a mountain biker that’s about all that interested me from this Watch update.

Doesn’t work while running anyway

Not disheartened if I end up skipping the 7. It has the same CPU as my 6, just like 4&5 had the same chip. With no must-have upgrades.
I consider the series 4->5 & 5->6 to be bigger upgrades than the 6->7.

Always on & Compass - Big deal to me
Fast charging & Better Taptic & New CPU - Big deal again.

I have a very cracked and slow apple 2, that blew my mind when it was announced… every year I am disappointed for the “newest watch“, this year was no different, unfortunately.

i would love if my brain would just justify the upgrade :D

Like I said on the main thread: there is no reason these faces couldn’t have launched on the Series 4-6 if we are being honest. I’m sure they’d look better on the larger screen of the 7 but limiting them to that model is a pretty lame attempt at adding value to an otherwise laughable “upgrade.”

Ditto.

Perhaps Apple considers them tacky, but I really want photo realistic watch faces Google Wear OS has.
Tru Dat…….

Have you considered an SE? Probably going to available for 199 on Black Friday. That would be a massive jump for you at a reasonable price.

Fall detection for workouts (like bikes) is coming to all Apple Watches (S4 onward)

No - I’d turn fall detection off. As a MTB rider I fall off all the time. I’m more interested in the auto detection of a workout for riding. Often forget to start one when I am riding and it doesn’t prompt me like it does for a walk or run.
