What’s not clear is if the Aluminium watches now come with Saphire screens, rather than glass as per previous generations. I have an aluminium S6 and can’t justify upgrading to anything without a more scratch resistant display…

That display looks gorgeous. It's worth an upgrade from an S6 for that alone. I'm definitely in on this one. Very happy, and the design is absolutely perfect for this year.

I’ll be interested to see if the biking feature gets passed to previous generations. As a mountain biker that’s about all that interested me from this Watch update.
Ok.. so we got another bunch of nice looking but unusable watch faces.
I came across the release notes. Portraits face and the World Timer face both say Series 4 and later...so at least I'll be getting something on my SE!
Not disheartened if I end up skipping the 7. It has the same CPU as my 6, just like 4&5 had the same chip. With no must-have upgrades.
I consider the series 4->5 & 5->6 to be bigger upgrades than the 6->7.

I have a very cracked and slow apple 2, that blew my mind when it was announced… every year I am disappointed for the “newest watch“, this year was no different, unfortunately.

Like I said on the main thread: there is no reason these faces couldn’t have launched on the Series 4-6 if we are being honest. I’m sure they’d look better on the larger screen of the 7 but limiting them to that model is a pretty lame attempt at adding value to an otherwise laughable “upgrade.”

I don’t understand why the watch faces has to be that boring and ugly. Apple is supposed to be great at design. They are stubborn too , they won’t release the ability to design Faces and buy form the AppStore.

So, this is Apple's new strategy to sell the S7: slightly bigger display and exclusive watch faces...LOL! This is about the most underwhelming update to the Apple Watch to date!
Fall detection for workouts (like bikes) is coming to all Apple Watches (S4 onward)

No - I’d turn fall detection off. As a MTB rider I fall off all the time. I’m more interested in the auto detection of a workout for riding. Often forget to start one when I am riding and it doesn’t prompt me like it does for a walk or run.
