But. But. It's the most! Brightest! Fastest! EVAR.

The changes are incremental now. I can remember when computers and technology were FUN. The things they were doing were cutting edge, had potential, and you got the feel you were doing something with it not everyone was doing, but someday would and it was cool.

Now I feel like I just heard the latest toaster oven from Oaster makes the most, brightest, fastest toast.

It even air fry's pizza, I guess.

Phones and smart watches are becoming commoditized like refrigerators or washing machines. It's kinda sad, IMHO.

I'll certainly be holding on to my Series 4 watch for at least another year. The phone? If the wife coaxes me to do something for myself? Maybe. But we all know where THAT goes.
Yet according to some users here I'm CrAzY for talking about technological plateaus. 🙄

I’m glad the ”confirmed leaks” of the horrid uninspiring flat sided designs didn’t come to pass. Those looked so uncomfortable/un-ergonomic the only people who’d find that great are people made of Lego.

No faster chip and new health measurements means it’s not a good enough step from the S6 to me.

I’ve been thinking about a decent fitness band. I was hoping the Watch SE would come down in price. I see they still sell a series 3 though so I might go with it. I really don’t need any of the other stuff on the newer watches, just something to do steps and heart rate.

Yeah, I’m also happy we didn’t end up with the flat sides.

Idk, I've had series 2 since the release, except for some minor screen scratch it works great. I don't know if it's worth upgrading bc the only real difference I see is the display and some design. The health features arent available in my country so they are useless to me. What do you all think? Should I upgrade to series7?

Well, two weeks ago I had my series 1 battery bulge out of the case, so I snagged a series 6 from Walmart for $330 (down from $400) and put the box on the shelf. The biggest upgrades I wanted were speed and always-on display, and if the latter came to an SE 2 for less than $330, I figured I’d return the sealed 6 and wait for the new SE 2 to ship. Or if the 7 blew my mind, I’d return my sealed 6 and I’d pony up the extra $70 for the latest and greatest.
All I can say after seeing this release is: the seal has been broken, I’m now wearing a brand new ⌚️ 6.

Is it just my imagination or do the cities/ timelines on the new World Timer watch face go around in the wrong direction?

I bought and returned an SE last year. This year I'm way more into fitness... so I'm buying an SE again. As soon as there's a sale of course. I figure an SE will last me two years, which gives time for the redesign and a spec battery bump

For future proofing. I’m sure it will run everything today just fine with power to spare but what about a few years down the line? The speed directly impacts how many updates it will get until it’s unusable slow.
Few years down the road is likely 3 new releases, my AW4 is still going strong with some battery degradation. When it and new WatchOS is released I’ll decide between a great deal on a 6 or spring for a 7.

If they announce a date then they’re bound to it. And if for some reason they are unable to meet that deadline, it creates disappointment because they’ve under-delivered on their promise.

well they already disappointed a good chunk with no redesign so why stop there?

100% agree. I was excited for a new design. What happened? Also, the outdoor cycling features better work with the Series 6.
Umm… it is a new design. It’s the same new design that was rumored minus the hideous square edges.

No more uncoloured aluminium option ☹️
All existing third-party ‘silver’ coloured straps/attachments will look weird, now. If I upgrade my S5, it’ll be green or midnight, starlight just looks like a metallic magnolia

Yeah honestly this is why I still have the user you replied to on Ignore

More screen is always welcome. To me
It looks like a good upgrade.

Am I missing something here. Aren't all of these things on a Apple Watch Series 6 with watchOS 8 already? Besides the colour options, and lager display and it's watch faces. ECG, Blood Oxygen, Pilates and Tai Chi, Fall detection, Resoratory rate during sleep, car keys and home keys, all-day battery life, cycling updates, mindefulnes and cellular are all on Series 6 running watchOS 8.
