New design, new chip, new sensors!!!

oh, wait….

--
EDIT: I see now that the Series 7 does indeed have a new chip, the "S7 chip," whereas the Series 6 Watch had an S6 chip. Macrumors' "should you upgrade?" article explains the difference:

"Apple says that both the S6 and S7 chip provide a 20 percent performance improvement over the S5 chip in the Apple Watch Series 5 and Apple Watch SE, indicating that they have equivalent performance."

I'm on a Series 4 so I'm tempted to get a 7 even though it's not much of a upgrade from a 6. Doesn't look like we can save our favourite yet like we could with the iPhone. I wonder if we will be able to as we need to build the watch and that's a bit of a faff.

The Apple Watch 7 is claimed to be the most crack resistant ever. What about scratch resistance? No mention of that anywhere. I have a feeling you will need to upgrade to the watch with the sapphire screen to prevent a scratched face.

This seems like an underwhelming update. I have the Series 5 and it would take a lot for me to upgrade.
And you'll be right to feel that way. I'm replacing my S3 only because it's really corroded by now. If it's not terribly corroded I'll still hang on to it.

Yes not a huge upgrade, but decent. Thing with me is 40mm isn't quite right when my previous 41mm was.
You would think '1mm?', but it's small, so yes I'll get one.

Looks like they haven't updated the Watch Studio yet. Are we supposed to discover the prices of the model that we went when ordering?
Probably similar as AW6, AW7 websites states:
  • Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399 (US), Apple Watch SE starts at $279 (US), and Apple Watch Series 3 starts at $199 (US).

For those that are upgrading from a 42mm watch - are you going smaller (but still getting a much larger display), or going larger?
