I’d agree but my 5 barely lasts the day. I do wonder whether to just jump for a 6 this year on the cheaper side once this comes out.
Yea - I was really hoping for something *much* better in the battery life department. I have an older model whose display isn't always on (my biggest gripe). I really don't use all the medical and health features (mostly just text, email, calendar and some complications showing the weather etc.) so my motivation is for the simpler things but with an enormously longer battery life with an always on display. I realize not everybody has my usage model however.

Anyone else been thirsting for a gold Link Bracelet since day one?

Yeah, they’re wickedly f—n overpriced, but Karl Lagerfeld’s custom Watch is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

(and yeah, that’s actual 18k gold from the original Edition days…*eyeroll*)

Their gold stainless steel watches look so good, I just don’t get why they haven’t sold this over the 6+ years of the Watch existing.

This seems like an underwhelming update. I have the Series 5 and it would take a lot for me to upgrade.

We see these comments every year, for every product Apple offers.

Unless you are one of the few "gotta have the latest thing" people, yeah, this update might not be for you. But keep in mind a lot of potential buyers are likely coming from older devices, not that AW5 is new but its only 2 years old. I'll be upgrading from an AW4 LTE and I'm excited. My AW4 LTE has been rock friggin solid, incredible battery life until the past few months, it is nearly 3 years old. I use to be able to wear it 23.5 hours per day and charge that .5 hour every morning, then on the weekends I would have to sleep without it on one night for it to fully recover. But in the past few months the battery life has taken a hit and since its 3 years old, might as well upgrade.

I am concerned about the always-on display and how that will affect battery life. I'll be sure to research that between now and ordering.

Let me the the fist to say it, EXCITED!!!
Are we sure it does not have a built in thermometer?
That would be a nice surprise, but probably not. Not sure what your use case is, but in mine I’ve just recently discovered how convenient it would be for women trying to conceive to be able to easily track their body temp fluctuations via a watch. Hopefully we see it with Series 8! (Also, as someone who owned the Series 0: Wow, time!)

I will upgrade my AW6 40mm to an AW7 45mm. I expect the 45mm will provide a more enjoyable user experience. It will be my only Apple purchase/upgrade this year.

That's what I chose to do. Jumped from a launch day S4 that had struggles with battery life to a less than year old 6 LTE for $300. Added monthly applecare+ for $4 and I'm gong to hang on to it for a couple of years. I like the bigger screen, but not enough to pay full retail.

Famous last words. I predict most models will drop to November within 5 minutes.
Definitely. I'm sure they can't make many of them right now. Every Apple product has a minimum demand level even when most of the customer base isn't interested. That is high enough to sell out quickly when supply is constrained.

Another amazing trick for better battery life is turning off raise to wake and just going into full power screen mode by tapping on rotating the crown
But what's the fun in that? I've never understood turning off the features that are meant to be on in order to squeeze out more battery life. Why would I want to use my device that way all the time? I wouldn't. Why am I squeezing out extra time from a device that is already not worth using because I turned all the features off?

It is designed to last all day using all of the features. And it does. Turning things off does not make any sense at all.

Be nice if they would allow us to see what is available, pricing, etc. Probably not much different than last year though. I assume the web site will update before Friday.

I usually have theater mode on, but probably deactivating raise to wake is even better; I didn't think of it. I'll try it right now!

(edit: i see that screen can be activated with a simple tap of the screen, as in theater mode. This might work wonders for me as I don't want the screen to be on).
