As a Series 4 owner:

The larger display has me very interested, but...

All I really want to know is how fast it is with responding to Siri commands. Aside from notifications and all the other passive features of Apple Watches, the main engagement I use (or try to use) is Siri for things like Homekit and other controls. But Siri on my series 4 is EXTREMELY slow. So slow that it is almost never worth it. So slow that 100% of the time it would be faster to pull out my phone and use Siri.

Given that this is 3 generations newer, I am hopeful that something has actually improved with that time.

“…which Apple indicates will offer the same 20% advantage in performance”

“…apparently been a few changes that have led Apple to brand it with a new name despite offering the same performance.”

So, which is it? 20% improvement in performance, or same performance?

20% performance gain compared to S5, same level of performance conpared to S6 but with extra small improvements in eficiency to compensate for the bigger screen and higher brightness on AOD.

Would that mean Sapphire is expected due to heavier weight?
SS weight increase for same size is higher than aluminum ... IF SS would get ion-x, there might not be a weight increase, but certainly not a higher increase compared to all version, thus, SS and Ti will remain with Sapphire

As a former S5 owner (same chip as S4) and current S6 owner (same chip as S7), I can tell you that yes Siri is much better, but still not as fast as on a phone.

I will be trading in my series 4 for one. Didn't see much to upgrade with the series 5 so skipped it. Wanted a series 6 but waited so long and by the time I got around to trying to buy the Titanium was no longer available. Mainly upgrading for the always on display which has been around for a while now

If anything, this new model will drive down the price of the older ones, so getting a good deal for your needs will be easier.

That said, I really need to do my homework in that regard, given that basically every Apple device I own is FAR more capable than my use cases for them.

So I really don't want to pay for features I don't need.

well, while I personally just don't use Siri at all, best I can suggest is to get a S7 and if you don't like it, return it with your 14 day window, or you can try the same with a S6 if you don't want to wait to find out

Percentages of weight difference don't help if you don't indicate the weight of the comparing item (in this case Series 6). A lot of us will be coming from older models. Just list the damn weight in grams so we can compare to what we have now.

Geez!

WiFi 6 isn’t just faster. It’s more efficient so it uses less power. I’d get a little bit more time per charge.
Apple did state that S7 continues with the same 18hr battery life, same number since S0 btw ... so IF you were really saving energy, other component/display eat it up

or you can just go to the link below and look it up yourself ... geez

I actually really love that the 7 is incremental (barely) upgrade… it makes the purchase of the 6 last year still feel completely worth it. No FOMO here.

I am very disappointed in that this watch isn't that much of an improvement over the Watch 6. A bigger watch, heavier by a little and some different charging options. I was hoping for some new health things, like blood glucose , body temperature, etc. I have the watch 6 and seems another year will go by with it until Apple figures out that to do a big hype presentation for things so not that great. I read where Samsung made some remark about this.

As far as the phone, same thing.. I am paying off my 12 pro and glad I got it when I did. I get a hoot out of the face recognition option.

Lastly they could have done something to improve the airtag firm wear updates with their units. BUT then again, guessing their motto is "do little things, the nerds will go ape-**** over it."

Thanks, that's what I figured. Have you used watchOS 8 yet? Does that have any Siri improvements?
