We will see two versions of the Apple Watch Series 8: one that looks like the Series 7 but adds Series 8 functionality and one with the flat design that is likely the "rugged" Sport model.

If I take all the leaks and info so far, I predict a squarer, rounder, flatter, more bulbous design

Ah yes the Apple Watch 7 design that they couldn't finish and scrapped last minute. Makes sense that they finally finished it.

you know its funny how many people talk crap about Jon prosser yet when ming-chi Kuo says something you all blow a load. yet they have near identical track records

A flat display would be cheap looking. That's the kind of thing a no-name knockoff has because they can't manufacture anything else.
Ah, but it would nevertheless be very expensive. And if enough people buy them, in a few years the general population would have learned that flat, formerly cheap-looking objects are actually not at all cheap, and consequently the price for resale would rise. Which ie exactly when you’ll be wanting to sell it on. Assuming you get in at the start.

I just want a thinner apple watch. Imagine if they made it 30% thinner. Same battery life. I'd buy one immediately
If Apple could make it 30% thinner with the same battery life, I’d much prefer they keep the same thickness and increase the battery life. The main beatdown for me is the battery life.

I don’t care who is wrong or right, I would just like a thinner watch. It’s the only Apple product I would like to be thinner in their fashionable ‘let’s make it thin’ ethos. Apple Watch air?

I would love this design and I‘d get one of those for sure. But if not, I wouldn‘t care. My series 5 model is just fine.

But maybe we see third party stores and better integration of 3rd party watches. Then I would eventually go for a Huawei Fit watch - 10days of battery life just destroys any Apple watch.

I am ready for the bulbous era to end. Never was a fan of it since the iPhone 6. Also hope we'll get proper space gray and silver aluminum versions again.

The rounded edge screen on current Apple Watches is what I dislike the most. The reflections the curves create distract from being able to easily see the screen in certain lighting conditions and they’re more prone to scratching / micro-scratching since the screen sit above the rest of the case. I do also prefer the more modern flat edge design than the rounded case. As my series 5 is now only getting between 18 and 24 hours of battery life, vs the 30+ hours I had been getting, I’m ready to upgrade this year and would love to have a different design.

The Apple Watch Series 8 could feature an all-new design with a flat display, according to the leaker known as "ShrimpApplePro."

Prosser-Series-8-3.jpg

In his latest video on the YouTube channel Front Page Tech, Jon Prosser highlighted information from ShrimpApplePro that suggests the Apple Watch Series 8 could feature a flat display in what seems to be a design originally rumored for the Apple Watch Series 7.

On Twitter, ShrimpApplePro cited sources claiming that "there is a flat front glass display" for the Apple Watch. There is said to be a "high chance that this is the front glass for the Apple Watch Series 8," and while there is as yet no clear information about what the overall design could look like or which Apple Watch model the flat display could be destined for, it seems plausible that the information relates to the flat-edged Apple Watch design shared by Prosser last year.

In May last year, Prosser spearheaded a rumor claiming that Apple was working on an Apple Watch design with flat, squared-off edges, which was subsequently supported by alleged CAD renders and other sources. At the time, Prosser suggested that the design could be for the Apple Watch Series 7, but cautioned that it could also be for another future Apple Watch model such as the Series 8.

The Apple Watch Series 7 debuted in September last year featuring an even more rounded design, but ShrimpApplePro's latest information suggests that the rumored flat Apple Watch design may actually have been destined for a new model this year instead. ShrimpApplePro added that the flat display is believed to soon be ready for mass production, likely alongside the front glass for the iPhone 14 models, and that there will be more to share next month.

This year, Apple is rumored to be preparing to launch three new Apple Watch models, including the Apple Watch Series 8, second-generation Apple Watch SE, and a new Apple Watch "Explorer Edition" with enhanced durability. Prosser has suggested that the flat-edged design could be destined for any of these new models.

ShrimpApplePro has a growing reputation in the Apple rumor community, providing the first look at the iPhone 14 Pro's "pill and hole-punch" True Depth camera array, thinner bezels, and exact dimensions. It is worth noting that ShrimpApplePro correctly said that the Apple Watch Series 7 would feature a rounded design like the Apple Watch Series 6, but with thinner display bezels, and is only now corroborating Prosser's initial rumor.

Following the new information, Prosser shared renders by Ian Zelbo showing what a flat-edged design could look like on the Apple Watch Series 8. The Apple Watch Series 8 is rumored to feature body temperature monitoring, improved activity tracking, and more.

They will just keep repeating these garbage claims until it happens. Or until we see leaks of new glass molds not curved.

At this point the Watch is pretty much the last Apple product with the rounded, bulby sides that were introduced with the iPhone 6. This is a natural evolution and should surprise no one.

Oh, and leakers who got it wrong last year should sit quietly and take a full year to think about what they've done.

I would hate that design. The current Series 7 is the best design possible, in my opinion for an Apple Watch. I don't want flat edges. Hate that. Personally, I hate Apple going more on Flat Edged things
