Jobs: "Stop me if you've already seen this."
Wait - are you using a quote he made when a leak was accurate to suggest that this is also accurate, or to suggest that Prosser has said this before and therefore we shouldn’t believe it?

Súper evolved and revolutionary design!.
Apple changes for the sake of changing, not for better user experience.
The curved edges make it more subtle, but flat screen and edges make it look like a copy. Anyway, everything about that horrible design has been said last year.

I would take new health sensors over a new design any time.

There were rumors about adding : blood pressure, blood glucose, hydration, alcohol, sleep apnea... this is what I want to see and what will make me upgrade.

Jon Prosser: *gets something wrong*
Apple community: F*CK JON PROSSER JON PROSSER SUCKS HE IS THE WORST THING SINCE THE BUBONIC PLAGUE ONLY HE GETS STUFF WRONG WHAT A LOSER

Other ”more reputable” leakers (some with a lower track record than Jon): *get something wrong*
Apple community: ??‍?

It's really quite simple, and I said the same thing a year ago. Apple works on multiple prototypes of the same device at the same time, especially when there are major new hardware designs in progress. When we got the iPhone 11, we almost certainly got the plan b prototype for that year, with the iPhone 12 design having been originally scheduled for release but pushed back a year. The same thing happened last year to Apple Watch. The major new design was pushed back a year, and we got the plan b model in Series 7.

Some things don’t need to end up flat and boxy… I prefer the current pebble design for AW.

Sounds like I need to keep the 7 so its rounded edges match my phone's rounded ones =)

This is just like the "no camera bump" rumor. Apple was never going to go from largest camera bump ever -> no camera bump; and they're not going to go from most rounded watch display ever -> flat display.

These huge steps just no longer happen at Apple--and they touted the wrap around effect of the S7 too much to take it away 12 months later.

Instant buy if this pans out. Especially the rumored rugged version. My Series 5 44 is still a good watch and easily gets more through a 15 hour day with a workout. I have been really impressed with the battery and I've always kept AoD on.

As many have said, this squared edge design looks cheap.

I would instead prefer Apple to offer alternate designs, such as circular Apple Watch and a fitness-oriented Apple Watch.

At this point the Watch is pretty much the last Apple product with the rounded, bulby sides that were introduced with the iPhone 6. This is a natural evolution and should surprise no one.

Oh, and leakers who got it wrong last year should sit quietly and take a full year to think about what they've done.

Not true. All their wearables are curved including AirPods and the new VR headset looks to be curved as well.

Flat sides just don’t work as well on wearables.

Folks, you keep forgetting that we‘re supposed to get 3 new models this year: Series 8, new SE and a brand new S8 Explorer (rugged). And just one of them (probably) will get that flat look. So yes, Apple will not bin the S7 „even rounder“ redesign after just one year. They‘ll keep it and add another, very different design for one of the other two models.

Aesthetically, Apple Watch is like AirPods: It’s an iconic design with certain design elements that are hard to evolve upon without loosing the recognizable silhouette and overall shape.

And as big of a change S3 to S4 was, it was still the same overall design.

While I do think Apple is prototyping a flat edged Watch, I don’t ever see them abandoning the curved edge design.

This flat version looks too much like many other wearables by other brands and not distinctly like an Apple Watch. It becomes almost generic.

However, I can see Apple expanding the range and launching something like a “rugged” Watch alongside the regular model this year, to see if there’s a market for other kinds of Watches.
