I’ll be 76 this 9/29. I’m an athlete running some miles almost every day. My ultra 2 is getting less and less enjoyable especially for sleep due to its clunky size, weight etc. Other than that I love it, especially screen size!
After over a year of rumors, the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 are set to launch in just a matter of weeks. There are now 10 changes and improvements rumored to be offered by the new models, so here's everything we're expecting.

All of the changes the Apple Watch Series 10 are expected to feature compared to last year's Apple Watch Series 9 are listed below, using information from a wide range of reliable sources that we have previously covered here on MacRumors. We will continue to update this article as more reports emerge prior to Apple's "It's Glowtime" event on Monday, September 9.
Apple Watch Series 9 Apple Watch Series 10 41mm and 45mm casing size options 46mm and 49mm casing size options (+11.1% and +8.9%) 1.69-inch and 1.9-inch display size options 1.89-inch and 2.04-inch display size options (+11.8% and +7.4%) 45mm model: 38mm width 46mm model: 39.7mm width (+4.5%) 10.7mm depth 11.6mm depth (+8.4%) 3D printed casing (some models only) More efficient OLED display S9 chip S10 chip with AI enhancements Thinner logic board Hypertension detection Sleep apnea detection
According to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, both the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 will apparently feature a new processor that succeeds last year's S9 chip. While this could "lay the groundwork for some AI enhancements down the road," it will not run Apple Intelligence and there are currently said to be no plans to bring "the full initiative" to the Apple Watch.
Apple has been developing hypertension and sleep apnea detection features for the Apple Watch that were originally slated for release in 2024, but Gurman now says that the "effort hasn't gone smoothly" and "Apple has run into some serious snags." The hypertension detection feature has been insufficiently reliable during testing and there are concerns about integrating it into the refreshed design, which could force Apple to postpone this feature until next year. Likewise, while the Apple Watch Series 10 was widely rumored to tout a thinner design, that too is now in question.
Likewise, the sleep apnea detection feature is now in trouble because it relies on blood oxygen saturation, which Apple Watches in the United States cannot currently measure due to an ongoing legal dispute with Masimo. Gurman postulates that the dispute with Masimo could be resolved soon, or Apple could find a way around it by arguing that the blood oxygen sensor could be used for purposes that are not directly related to blood oxygen levels. The company could also announce the sleep apnea detection feature and hold off releasing it until a later date.
Release Date
The Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 are expected to be announced at Apple's "It's glowtime" event on Monday, September 9. Pre-orders are likely to open on Friday, September 13, with launch following one week later on Friday, September 20.
Will It Be Worth Upgrading?
The Apple Watch Series 9 was a very minor upgrade over the Series 8, with the S9 chip, Double Tap, and Precision Finding for the iPhone 15 models being the most significant changes. The Apple Watch Series 10 could build on these with new health features and larger display size options, but it looks like current Series 9 users will have little reason to upgrade.

So they 86’d PRODUCT(RED)?
I didn’t see that coming, though I guess the only (RED) phone left is the SE?
Edit: Also the 14.
They have a 42mm in the AW10.I don't understand why Apple is making the watch larger. The 46mm model is too big for most female wrists. My wife will be upgrading to an apple watch 9 41mm or an SE of there is a 41mm because the 46mm model is just to big.
I am curious about the sales numbers when they are released.
I was confused by the comments at first too but it looks like MR just updated and reposted an old article and kept the comments intact. So most of the comments are actually from before the reveal. This thread is a masterclass in people not reading. 46mm is NOT the smallest Apple Watch Series 10. Come on guys.
I'm curious how the 42mm compares to the 40mm Series 6 I have on my (small) wrists, and I'm also curious if the older 42mm watch bands (the oldest, larger size) bands fit on the Series 10 42mm, or still the 46mm. The band size chart they have is super confusing, I wish they'd just put the Series and sizes they work with. I have older bands I'd want to use if I got a newer watch, but it's unclear if they will fit with the newer sizes.
What's interesting is, the case of each size is only 1mm bigger in length and width but the screen real estate on the "small" S10 is not almost identical to the screen real estate on the large S9. I'm going to wait to see them in person on my wrist in the store. I love my S9 45mm and it's not too big on my smallish (for a man) 6.5" wrist (the "lugs" / case do not extend out past my wrist) but maybe I want the "small" one this year if it's physically smaller but the screen is almost the same size as what I'm used to? We'll see.I literally bought a series 9 for my mother after the event because the series 10 is too big. It's almost the same size as the 45mm.
The sensor is there it's just disabled due to legal issue. Works for me in Canada. I thought the rumour was the legal issue would be resolved soon… at which point the S6-10 will regain that functionality. Why is no one talking about the lack of blood oxygen? This is a big miss and I’m not upgrading because of it.
Am I reading the chart wrong? Looks like depth goes to 9.7. it "is" thinnerI think when they say depth they actually mean width and when they say width they actually mean length 😵💫
All but the last dozen or so posts are from weeks ago before the reveal when this "buyers guide" (an old post) likely had inaccurate information. I'm guessing they updated it after the event.Am I reading the chart wrong? Looks like depth goes to 9.7. it "is" thinner

I was just told that, haha. I have seen similar things with MacRumors before where they edit the post and reuse the comments from an older, out-of-date article. They really shouldn't do that, it's confusing for anyone reading the comments, and anyone who comes back to get quoted on something that was weeks old, and no longer relevant.Oh boy, ironically this might be a masterclass in you not reading lol.
Original article last month claimed the Apple Watch would be larger and increased to 46mm. There were no rumors or mention of the 42mm size so of course everyone was freaking out at the lack of a small option and the older comments reflect this.
Is this because it's basically the same chip? Seems like good reason to buy the S9 instead.just letting everyone know, the series 9 and 10 will drop software support at the same time.
