Personal preference but trying on a larger size Apple Watch or the ultra feels like an iPad strapped to my wrist doing it’s compute thing and less of a watch with smart functionality added.
Absolutely. I'm tall and solid, but still don't favour massive watches. The huge watches also tend to look especially awkward on women, especially those with slim wrists.

Seems like there’s really no reason to update if Mark Gorman is on the money
This is not ten years ago when the iPhone and Applewatch were relatively new and people updated just to say they have the latest model

Yeah I'm still on a 4 as well and have never seen an essential feature update that drew me to a get a newer model. I probably wouldn't be looking at the 10 if it weren't for the discontinued support for the 4 (well played, Apple...sigh).
Same here. Functional, but battery life is really bad. But it is 6 years old, so time for a new one.

I'm an S4 user too. It has been one of the best devices I've ever owned and an incredible value.

But this is it for me. It's time to upgrade. There have been numerous meaningful updates since then.
Must admit the same will be true for me regardless. My S4 is struggling to get to 12 hours of runtime at this point. I've always been happy with the battery life (I charge in the evening and sleep with it on because sleep tracking is my favorite feature) but it's given me just about all it's got to give!

They should make their ultra line really push the boundaries (specs, design) since they charge top dollar for it. In it's current state, it's just a larger apple watch with a slightly "tougher" case.
This entire Apple Watch offering combined with the nerds on here screaming about evil Tim is outselling every watch (not just smart watch) on the market. And by that also a sales driver for the more expensive phone you need with it. Boundaries are already pushed. Assuming better battery life can always be done when they absolutely runout of thinner faster brighter n so on. 😄

Me, for one, I actually quiet like that half a decade old devices still are perfectly fine to use and Apple struggling to come up with new hardware locked features like the funny finger tap last year. And I think Apple is fine with it as well since having that „old“ device locks you into iOS.

No disrespect but this is one of the poorest quality articles I’ve seen on MacRumors. The article contradicts whats in the chart. The chart contradicts the rumors we’ve heard.
It’s all just guess work till next week anyway. Most certainly there have always been more rumors that turn out to be false than the other way around.

Apple if your going to make a bigger watch then use all of the screen without putting a big fat bezel around it and call it big.
That’s just stupid….i mean marketing!

You can’t contradict yourself in an article.

This entire site is rumor pieces and guesses. I get that. But what makes MacRumors so awesome is that it has a great level of journalism in it. Just not this piece.

You are apple's favorite customer. Buy into their BS hook, line, and sinker. Nothing about this makes it worth updating unless you are coming from like a series 4.

Well yeah, I'm proud to be in the Apple family. Worth is subjective based on your income. Discerning customers who demand the best of Apple every year, upgrade every year.

How so? I always recycle or pass down, exposing others to Apple experiences that hopefully lead them to immerse themselves more deeply in this amazing ecosystem.
You don't think getting a new watch every year is wasteful jeez! its irrelevant if you recycle it, you are still consuming a new one each year

I don't understand why Apple is making the watch larger. The 46mm model is too big for most female wrists. My wife will be upgrading to an apple watch 9 41mm or an SE of there is a 41mm because the 46mm model is just to big.

Whatever you need to justify paying for minimal upgrades is your prerogative. With that being said, at least in regards to the apple watches, they have been able to do the same things (minus some random features most won't ever use) since like 4 generations ago. But I guess apple needs customers like you to keep pushing out very minimal upgrades in the watch department.

It seems like the larger screens are the only consistent rumor for the Series 10.

Details like the exact size of the screens, thickness & features seem vague and contradictory. The 'thicker' CAD renders are from a source that previously revealed CAD renders of a flat-sided Apple Watch which doesn't exist. Although they also got the Apple Watch ultra correct. A mixed bag to say the least.

Next Monday is the 10-year anniversary of the Apple Watch's announcement. Combined with the vagueness of the rumors and the perfect anniversary moment (remember, it was a surprise the event is on Monday rather than Tuesday) it does feel like there's a decent chance that it'll be a bit more interesting than the rumors say.

I feel like sleep apnea and blood pressure have been named pretty consistently as well. Blood sugar more on the sidelines.
the flat sided Apple Watch already exists over at huawei fit 3
the event is Monday because Tuesday will have the first trump vs Harris debate.
It usually is on Tuesdays because the journalist can travel on a workday Rather than the weekend.

It's not wasteful for me. I use Apple Watch every day of every year. It adds incredible value to my life.
Can you describe how the value shift was from 8 to 9 because honestly I was ready to upgrade from my 6 and it felt like nothing useful would have come my way with it. 🤣

I'm on an S4 with 71% of battery health. The questions for me are:
- what's the most economical way of getting away from battery fear? I think a battery replacement is 50% of a new SE
- WatchOS whatevernextversion won't run on it (I am trying to care)
- if I change models, will my straps fit?

It's a first-world problem I face, I know..... :)

I bet it will be 42mm and 46mm sizes, as some few people have predicted basing it on case size (as always) and not screen size. Crazy how lazy journalism has become to just copy paste the 45/49 "rumour" during the whole summer.

Boom, confirmed through an online retailer already today posting protective cases 🤣
