I've been wanting a nice quality watch for a while now but with rumors of an Apple Watch I thought that it would be worth the wait.
It turns out this is exactly what I've been looking for. It has a beautiful, simplistic design, the taptic feedback is just awesome, the software fits all of my needs, and the bands are stylish and had a lot of thought put into them.
Sure the battery life is a bit lacking based on reports earlier this month, but considering how small the battery is as well as the A5-level chip and retina quality display it is powering, I think this is a great first gen product.
I'm so excited for it to be April!

It does look pretty thick that you mention it.
Im hoping for significant batter improvement and/or facetime.
Granted I may still buy the low end model this time around to see if I even find it practical in my life.

Good grief, it is 10mm + about 1-1.5 mm for the smaller round thing underneath. Compare it to other watches worn by men and it isn't that thick at all. The main problem is battery tech VS what tech they put in it. They could make it much much smaller if it could do much less.

Here's another one for you. lel.

Maybe I'm alone here but I haven't worn a watch since I was a child, and I don't plan on spending $350 for a new watch when my iPhone can tell the time, check my mail and do pretty much anything I need when I'm mobile.

Would that be a watch that does nothing but tell the time? This is a smart watch. A bit like comparing a 90s mobile to a modern smartphone, they do a lot more than just make calls now.

As someone who has Android wear, I can tell you that while neat and nice at times, smart watches are more or less just a novelty item.

Is your iPhone a wrist-worn fashion accessory that can tell you these things from the inside of your pocket? No.

And I noticed you edited your comment which first said you're not renewing this watch every year. Nobody said you had to. Jesus.

I just don't see what the big deal is with the watch. Sure, it has the Apple brand on it, I'll wait and see what becomes of it. I'm not too keen on the idea of having to charge it everyday. I've had my solar powered watch for 10 years now and have never had to change the battery. It does everything I want in a watch... Tells time.

No one is going into Apple Watch caring about time. iPhones already do that for everyone. What iPhones can't do is be worn on your wrist. So now you have a proxy for an iPhone on your wrist. It won't be able to do everything but iPhone can't do everything the watch does either. And the wrist is infinitely more convenient especially when you think of receiving many texts, emails or even calls in a day.

most people I presume who wear modern day watches aren't doing so out of practicality, but likely more to do with Fashion and habit.

I still wear an analogue watch. mostly because I think it looks good. it's my way of wearing "jewellery" without actually wearing useless jewellery. it looks good and can at least offer some practicality. You can get away with this easily because watches are pretty much ignorable most of the time. Without the need for constant updates, or charging.

if I had to start charging my watch everyday, I would likely stop wearing one. the first gen of Smartwatches, both Apple and Android are non-started because of it. None ofthese things are able to replicate the "jewellery" and simplicity of maintenance of non-smartwatches.

than you've really not paid attention to how much they're investing in apple watch. All those bands, the two different sizes, whole new chip, to get the design and manufacturing off the ground, that doesn't sound like a hobby product to me. If apple fails with the apple watch, it'd be the biggest failure they've had since the pre-ipod days.

I'm not doubting the effort they're putting in pre-release (they're certainly not spending their time on anything else), but I think once it's released, public interest will quickly wain, as will Apple's interest.

Out of interest, do you regret buying it? If it broke tomorrow, would you replace it?

Absolutely agree. I predict the Apple Watch will surprise everyone and the lines will be around the block as usual.

I have a Rolex watch (40 years old) and Lumia phone so don't expect the watch to appeal. However, it will appeal to a lot of iPhone users I guarantee. Time to buy more Apple stock me thinks!

I swear, when I hear all the incredibly "insightful" comments like yours littering Macrumors, one thing always comes to my mind. I imagine many people said the same thing back at the advent of the wristwatch...."I've got my pocket watch, why do I need a wristwatch."

Location. It's not about pure function, but rather location and convenience. There's a reason the wristwatch won over the pocket watch. On top of that, by virtue of the Apple Watch being WORN, it enables entirely new kinds of interactions that just aren't possible with something in your pocket. Like the Taptic engine. Apple is just barely scratching the surface of the potential of what they can do with physical feedback attached to your wrist. The silent directions in Maps is a very good indication of the potential. A deaf/blind person can receive turn by turn directions or even communications by a wrist worn computer tapping them on the wrist.

I don't know what some of you expect from technology, but to me that is very exciting. The entire user interface has physical feedback. You FEEL parts of the user interface. That has me VERY excited. And you're crazy if you aren't at least intrigued.

You are not alone here, I haven't worn a watch since a child either. But then I saw Apple Watch last year in Paris, and as Sullivan said, seeing it in personal changes your perception. At that one instant moment, something click, you know you want it. I was converted.

And the craziest thing? I want to collect all the bands they offer :p

Looks really huge, will wait for slimmer version 2

It doesn't look huge in person, and they have a smaller one. I personally will get the smaller version.

All of you with negative comments, listen to this: Apple Watch will be a big hit and you won't have time to look back to your comments today. I saw so many negative things about iPhone 6/6+ before the release and boom , the **** is just killing all the smart phones out there now.

You've added so much value to this conversation with your insightful comment.

"I've got my pocket watch, why do I need a wristwatch."

Except people didn't buy a wristwatch and continue wearing their pocket watch. The wristwatch replaced the pocket watch.

The Apple Watch doesn't replace the iPhone. It's in addition to it. In fact, it needs the iPhone to function fully.

It's just another diddy little computer that doesn't do anything that the other diddy little computer in your pocket can't do already.

Like many others have said already here who really cares about Watches especially E-watches when there are so many other electronic devices tell you the time or do things like for Health, the only benefit is for Health still because it is a lighter device.

Could Apple bother with Apple TV improvements instead or is there a reason Apple TV is ignored while there is a huge competition for streaming devices.

Apple spent 3 years on this product. Tim Cook says he uses it every day and can't live with out it. And you think Apple is going to quickly lose interest?
