I'm curious about the Watch, like a lot of people and my penchant for Apple products sets me squarely in the sights of being a potential customer to buy the Watch, but the two main specs that Apple is not ticking on what I want/need a watch to do are battery life and water resistance.
I'm a watch wearer, have a nice Seiko automatic that has been bulletproof for the past 10 years in all the tough situations I've subjected it to. I don't have to worry about swimming with it, even if swimming is just an occasional summertime thing for me. I really don't have to think about it at all, other than wearing it keep it charged, which I do everyday anyway.
I understand that like with the iPhone I always have with me, I have to do things to protect it, but adding a watch to the list of things to take off or put somewhere safe for those times where I know something is likely to damage the Watch, let alone worrying about being put in a situation where I can't protect it, makes the Watch something they will have to significantly improve upon before I bite on getting one.
Maybe Apple will figure out how to make a traditional automatic watch movement produce enough power to run a smart watch, but I don't see that happening anytime in the next decade.
