I don't understand why people spend the energy. There are so many products and services I dislike yet I never visit their forums.

It's a discussion about price. Not if you like it or not. :)

I only visit "new posts"... ;)
And price/value is in my previous post. even at 1/2 the new price i couldn't justify the cost for what it does.

I was able to justify it at full price ($600 CAD). I'd gladly pay the new price too. Couldn't live without it.

Alright AFEPPL, you expressed your opinion and experience with the AW, but i don't get or see your point on why you are posting about how you dislike it so much on THIS thread?

So please move your negativity to this thread......Unless you've got something to say that actually matters for THIS thread (that is discussing the price drop for the AW) then move along please, we get it, you don't like it, we know!

I personally, will most likely get on the bandwagon and buy the new Royal Blue colour AWS 42mm, i currently have the 38mm Silver Sport and as much as i love this little beauty, i'd absolutely love the slightly bigger and slightly bigger battery of the 42mm, and the size of the 38 just seems real small on me...
My AW was a christmas gift from my dad, so i honestly don't know who he bought it from at his workplace, but we don't have a receipt for it, so it could be tricky to just walk into our local Apple shop and ask to change it for the 42.....I might try it though lol, we'll see.

I made the mistake of going a little band crazy and i bought a extra 4 bands, 2 more sports bands (the Lavender with the RG pin and the Black with SG pin) the Milanese Loop and the Link Bracelet for my current AW, so i'll probably have to sell them separately on eBay or something.

B&H has that nice deal still going for $100 SS but a $75 gift card and extra band. Still seems cheaper than the new one but you don't get the new bands but you could probably buy with the $75 gift card or extra band? :)

I'll be adding two bands to my shameful total.... Two more classic buckles. Midnight blue and gray. Those look really nice.

I could have ordered a 42mm Sport silver aluminum with a band I didn't want from Best Buy @ $299 and added a Royal Blue for the same price as the one I purchased today from Apple. But part of me secretly hopes the newest watches shipping from apple got some updated internals. Nothing major of course, but more like how they updated the AppleTV 3 a few years ago. Ya, 0.001% chance, I know ;)

Hmmm...Should I stop at Bestbuy today and pull the trigger on a SGS for $299? Decisions, decisions.

I didn't say that, so pls don't make it appear so... Can you pls alter your post to reflect that.

Given it's a public forum, you are never going to get everyone to agree with you.
I've owned the device and I'm more than entitled to express it in a non aggressive way. The AW is a very poor device and just doesn't offer anything. The health parts are hit and miss at best, the apps are extremely slow and most of useless too.

if all it did was provide notifications I'd still find it useful. It's very nice to be able to be notified of every notification, and be sure that I receive it. I can keep my phone in my pocket all day at work.

It will probably take Best Buy a while to get the new bands stocked so I imagine it'll be a while until we get any $199 watches. If I remember correctly it took several months before they started selling it last year. I got mine for $249 so I'm not really complaining!

Do you think that places like target and Best Buy will keep the $100 off and discount it to $199.99 for the 38mm sport?
No. But you can get a $25 discount off the $299 price for the 38mm now if you get an open box from BB. They also have the older model with the plastic band for less but the only decent band for the sport in my opinion is the new nylon and buying the sports with the plastic band at a lower price is false economy when you have to just go and spend another $50 for the nylon band separately.

I just ordered the newer nylon band model from BB and got $25 off for taking an open box. ($275 for a 38mm) They may have them on a sale in the future for $50 off but I decided to settle for just the $25 and get it now so I can use it.

I wonder when the second generation is coming and if they'll introduce the 2nd gen at the older higher prices or introduce them at this new $299 price and discount the 1st gen even further down.

I just had the same thought. I expect Apple to keep the gen 1 watch around after they launch gen 2, allowing them to drop the price maybe as much as $100. Which means the Watch could sell for as little as $199, which would be a much more compelling entry price.

All watches dropped $50. now start at $299 for the 38mm Sport.

No, only the aluminum models dropped $50. The stainless and edition models are the same.

Or just a $50 drop on the Sport and a $100 drop on the SS models, thus evening them out.

$199 is much more compelling entry price than $249 for someone who's been on the fence. There's a reason Apple prices their products with a "9" for the last digit rather than a zero. Oldest sales tactic in the book. $19.99 sounds a whole lot better than $20 -- but wait there's more...!

$249 also has 9 has the last digit. Just saying.

Yes it does. And it also has a "2" for the first digit, where $199 has a "1". Hence the $19.99 vs. $20.00 marketing scheme I referenced.

If you research Apple's pricing, there are just as many $x49 as $x99 so it's a toss up. Apple products are always a bit more $$$ than the competitors, but then again, you get what you pay for.

Waiting for the 42mm to hit $299 again. :)
I had a $40 gift Visa card from Verizon (traded in some kind of points or something ages ago). And I get a corporate discount thru Apple which took $10 off AppleCare and $15 off the watch. Made a second watch much more palatable.

Target has a sale going on their SS watches right now. $499.99 for SS/SBSS with sport band. Went to a Best Buy today with stock on hand and had them price match. Had a small gift certificate that also factored into purchase as well.
