I was hoping it would have to be on your wrist to work. That's great news.

I doubt it will take 2 hours to charge. For a device this small that seems excessive. But if that's the case it's no big deal really.

If you charge at night, 2 hours is insignificant. But if you forgot to charge at night and want to charge during day, 2 hours is too much.

As long as it really does get a day of use, that's fine. I don't think people will mind changing it over night, but people will mind getting to 6pm and thinking "I'd better go easy on using this, because otherwise the battery will die".

I don't think the paradigm even allows for a user to be conscious of management (other than the hypochondriac types that will switch on power saver mode every chances they get, you know the type...they spend their days closing apps in the task switcher convinced that it does anything to battery life).

The only exception I see would be those whom do long distance running (3+ hours).

Can someone explain to me how a smart watch will be useful for someone like me who doesn't like to wear jewelry in the first place?

My guess is it is the same as the iPhone battery paradigm, burst charge to 80%, trickle to 100%.

Eh,
I think they shoulda thought of a better battery life solution. All-week battery life would have been nice... Heck, they coulda thought of something ingenious like "Shake to recharge it" or something like that..

Do me a favor: Shake your wrist for 10 seconds and then tell me what you think of that idea.

Finally we get charging info. I honestly thought it might be closer to an hour though.

I don't like that it has to be on your wrist and hope that's something they can make optional via a setting. Sometimes I take my watch off and lay it next to my computer face up. I know most likely don't - but it would be nice to still get notifications.

Not needed during charging - but just because it's not on my wrist doesn't mean I don't want to get alerts...

Mmmm...you definitely want to stay away from electric cars then :)

Siri will never not feel awkward and unnatural to me so I won't have any use for that on the watch either. the only time I use it is to set an alarm

yet I kinda want one and I don't even know why or for what Lol marketing victim one could say.

I am trained for at least 10 minutes ;)

Correction: 5 hours to charge, 2 hours of usage ;)

Not true. Where did you hear this. That's ridiculous. You should really get your facts straight!!

Oh, it's a joke. How funny. How hilarious. What a good post.

man, i really want to get one...but the only a day battery life is concerning. prob going to wait for real world users to report back on how battery actually plays out.

It's very good to know what your approach to this will be. I wasn't sure, but now I have a better idea how to proceed. I'll order one the second they are available. Thanks.

Really. How dumb of Apple to have not thought of this. They should have hired you as a consultant. You could have made a billion dollars selling this idea to Apple.

lol, it's not complaining so much as... They're releasing a device where the battery life is already out-matched.
Come on, not everyone is going to blindly sing their tune.

Come on, there's no smiling about this. This is kinda bad.. >.>

Well, at least you're not looking at the whole picture. So why are you moaning and groaning here? Go buy the product with the better battery and be happy and away from here. Thanks.

You would have to use the Watch heavily, continuously, for 1/3rd of your waking hours. There's no way you'll do that. Take a Xanax and chill the bleep out.

Flying takes a lot of energy. Let's see you use nothing but the energy in your body to fly. You're allowed to use whatever wingsuit or any other tools to help you, but all the energy causing you to rise from the ground has to come from your body.

Yes, I am very much aware of the fact that these batteries are being used for very different things. I was just pointing out that some products can be pretty disappointing. Even for a flying toy, the charge usage ratio is pretty sad.

I've never heard so much complaining in my life, and the product isn't even out yet.

Many of the people posting here have no life and live to respond with absurdities to every story posted on any given site. How sad for them.

I can live with that. Let's be honest, how often are you going to stare at your watch and walk at the same time? ;)

Thanks for that analysis. And if you forget to charge your phone? Same situation. Wow, is there nothing that you people won't complain about.

How 'bout this. The Sun will burn out in a few billion years. That's outrageous, but not as outrageous as most of the posts here.

Bad advice, being on xanax is the only conceivable way I could see someone staring at their watch for 5 straight hours.

"...and I'd like to demonstrate the shake-to-charge feature for you now."

*Shakes hand violently back and forth*
