Saw title, misread it as DC Rainmaker 😂

Briefly misunderstood the snark as Rainmaker is precisely the right guy to listen to re: a watch like the Ultra.

John Mayer loving the product only serves to prove how exceptionally perfect, classy, and loyal the Apple Watch Ultra truly shall be to all my timekeeping needs.

So many negative comments about his comments about ultra, sad. I am a watch collector too and became bored with the Apple watch and used it for the health benefits it offered, I.e. ekg and blood oxygen level. I had practically stopped using it and wasn’t going to upgrade to the new version of the Apple Watch but when I saw the Ultra I thought I’ll give it a try, and to my surprise it’s an absolute joy to use. So I agree with John Mayer and the hell with everybody else!

It’s been amusing to see people trying to gatekeep the Ultra only to people who use the extra stuff.

Watch collectors buy watches they can’t/don’t use all the features on *all the time*. How many Submariners or Seamasters do they think get used for diving?

It’s probably about as many Daytonas get used at the race track. 😄

Please elaborate with some details. That's quite an allegation.
February 2010 interview in Playboy magazine. I will not quote him here as I will be suspended. But he uses the infamous N word, trashes in very ugly terms his famous girlfriends, refers to a certain male body part as David Duke and on and on. I realize you were trying to catch me out as you often do to those who present facts which you disagree with, so please have a good look at the interview.

I don't get what makes this digital watch that attractive to a watch collector who likes the mechanical kinds. Mayer mentioned GPS, dive functions, etc. Ok, so other Apple Watches have had GPS and all that before; not the dive function though. I don't get it. I'm not saying that he's wrong to be excited about the Ultra. It's just not clear what the digital to mechanical correlation is.

As far as I am aware the man has never been pictured wearing a digital watch of any kind because he is a conissor of traditional mechanical watches and those are the only watches he wears, or to the point is seen wearing. Yes he likes watches and as such it is only natural for him to look at and try out other watches but just because he say's he likes the Apple watch ultra does not mean he is going to wear it unless he has a very specific reason to.

Lol now maybe Apple can get back in the luxury market for watches.. but just don’t leave us non-luxury buying folks behind 😁

He will have ruffled a few feathers in the mechanical watch collecting community because they see digital watches/smart watches as something that is cheap and tacky and thus beneath them.

Shame people can't appreciate both. While I love and appreciate mechanical watches, we are in a golden age of "wrist technology."

Hopefully that’s a new Mystery Ranch bag, otherwise that watch probably won’t see much real use if the bag is any indication.

What specific things are a joy to use? How is it more exciting than your boring Apple Watch?

I was intrigued when the Ultra was released but never really considered upgrading my 'regular' Apple Watch - mainly because I wasn't convinced I needed all the rugged capabilities and adventurer features.

However I visited my local Apple store over the weekend and... wow! the Ultra looks really good to me! It's not as big/bulky as I thought it would be. But it's big enough. And, put next to the regular S8/S7, it looks awesome. Makes the regular ones look just a tiny bit puny :)

I've just bought a 14Pro and the AirPods Pro2, so I'm not going to spring for the Ultra now. But I know how I'll be treating myself this Christmas!

Not as big or bulky as you thought it would be but makes the Apple Watch 8 appear puny, OK.

It's a nice Watch but I need to buy a swimming pool first to take advantages of it.
No public swimming pool in where you live? In Hong Kong, many new buildings have swimming pool for residents. Almost every district have a public swimming pool.
