Ahh see, an Apple Watch action button done right.

Well, Apple could have made a replaceable action button, and include a button cap in the bands package that fits the band color.

Can’t innovate anymore my ass!

Not that I’m planning to buy one, but orange would be a stopper in my case.

I dislike orange, except as fruit, no way I would wear this.

Without the orange button how will people know you just spent $800 on the watch?

Again, the button was made international orange on purpose. International Orange exists for a reason to set the button apart and make it easily visible even in conditions where visibility is poor, which while diving in the ocean or in a blizzard, pretty damn useful. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_orange

As someone who works extensively with metals, I’ll tell you that he did a terrible job of this. He seriously cheapened the look of the case. Notice the speaker holes for example. See how the edges are rounded over? He destroyed the crisp edges that were machined into them. The same thing is all over his work. The brushed finish looks terrible. It’s not even, or subtle. I would be embarrassed if I had done this. I certainly wouldn’t be showing it to everyone.

there is a way that finishes are done so as not to do exactly what his resulted in doing. It’s a lesson - don’t do this yourself unless you have the proper equipment for it, and the knowledge and experience in how to apply them. If you follow that rule, you won’t end up with the disgusting mess he’s ended up with.
Well, he likes it, it’s all that matters.
Actually, the trash truck orange was also ugly as f.

Well, you and I know that the majority of Apple Watch Ultra buyers won’t buy it because of their serious extreme sport activity.

Apple is mainly a fashion company.
It’s just a matter of time till we see a 10 tons of weight guy hobbling down the street with an Apple Watch Ultra.

The orange button isn't what makes it look ugly to me. It's the body, specifically the way the screen lifts up from the body, that bothers me the most. I would like to see it in person though as the features and bigger battery are a big selling point for me.

I agree, I could live with the colour but I just don't like the button set up, the extra bit sticking out just looks odd

I kind of agree, the boxy Apple watch looks like 1st gen iPhones and it doesn't feel like a classy piece to wear with anything really. I appreciate the effort to get rid of the color and make it more neutral.

Why can we have round time pieces that are smart from Apple? It's classic and stylish. I don't want a fat calculator on my wrist.

That looks so good!
Well thank you very much my friend. With an xacto and a small piece of vinyl, you too can have your action button look like anything you would like. The seam between the action button and housing is actually quite large. large enough that i can fit the xacto along the lining after a little press on at no risk to the watch or button, and get a near perfect fit.

Kudos to him.

But I like my Watch just the way Apple designed it. Beautiful design is one of the many reasons I bought it in the first place.
You mean, with an intact warranty? Hell, that’s why I like mine compared to this example.

This sort of thing is almost inevitable when someone 'improves' a device like this.

Don't even get me started on stick-on 'chrome' for cars.

Buy a Series 8 and move on then. This isn't for you.

This reminds me of what happened to a vintage Omega Geneve I took to a random watch repair guy years ago. The case was a bit scratched and dinged up, but the base finish still had a nice shine to it. The guy took it upon himself to "polish" the hell out of the whole thing so it was a dull, uniform finish not unlike what this guy above did to his Apple Watch. I was very PO'ed, but I guess I deserved it for cheaping out on getting the watch serviced...

You literally called it "trash truck orange."

Apple's not mainly a "fashion company." They're a computer company. The Mac isn't fashion, it's a computer. The iPhone isn't fashion, it's a computer. Even the Apple Watch isn't fashion, it's a computer. The only "fashion" thing about the Apple Watch are the bands.
