No, but they enthusiastically use it... for a button.
They are just telling you what the color is called, it is literally called "international orange". Should they make up their own name for a color that already exists? I don't understand your complaint here. And I don't see how they were enthusiastic about it either.

Or is this a case of enthusiastically looking for something to complain about?

I thought about this all morning and I agree that I have mixed feelings on the orange button. The ring on the crown is fancy enough.

Still I am not going to be grinding my watch.

I personally love the look of it as is. I do wish it came with additional colors like his polished silver. And accented with colors other than orange (Red, Black, White, Green, etc.).
If they only had a nice metal band for it. That's all I really want. I can wear it out just fine.

I personally think the OP's mod looks great, but I also worry that the brushed Ti finish will show even very light scratches pretty readily. I saw that happen on the previous brushed Ti Edition AWs, they would scratch quite readily, but I suppose re-brushing is always an option.

My guess is that one reason Apple switched to the sandblasted-type Ti finish on the AWU was to make it more resistant to showing these light scratches. My guess is that the "random" characteristic of the sandblasted finish just hides these light scratches better than the mono-directional brushed finish. YMMV.

I swear to god these bad takes about the use of International Orange on the watch are gonna make me lose it. They're already giving me a worse migraine than the standard "sideloading bad" replies.
How is it a bad take to think that Apple is full of themselves for touting "International Orange" for a freaking button on a freaking watch? We get it, it's a real thing. It's used in far more important applications than a [giant] watch button. If you can't find that thing because the color doesn't stick out, then you should reconsider doing these extreme activities.

Apple is just doing their usual, "we've reinvented the button, making it enormous and slathering it with International Orange"

THAT's what people are laughing at.

How did you do that bro?
So i took some excess dbrand leftovers, I then cut it to slightly bigger, overlapping onto the casing of the watch, gave it a QUICK hairdryer to soften the vinyl, and press fit the vinyl into the seams, using a fingernail for the opening between the button and the casing to indent a bit to see where the button ended, then took an xacto blade and cut into the seam only barely deeper than the vinyl (just in case), then after i cut around the whole button i pulled off the excess, and using a cleaning cloth gave it a few rubs for the edges (as normal with vinyl skins), and that was it. It was only my first attempt and it could be much cleaner, but i will worry about that, when this irks me too much.

The orange breaks up what would otherwise be a large expanse of grey. I like it, but I also like orange. With the right band and face you can absolutely wear it in a formal setting too. Big, well machined metal watches are a thing.

The poster in the thread with the black vinyl dbrand sticker took a much more sensible approach to customization. Nothing good comes from brushing off the protective coating on the titanium.

Can't wait to see it in black. Anyone?
A brushed "space black" finish would be pretty sweet (like previous Ti Edition).

Bro...the Apple Watch Ultra can be used as a dive computer. International Orange is used out at sea FOR A REASON. Kinda useful to be able to see the button that you can program for Oceanic+ or call for help when you're at sea where things are hard to see (pun intended)

Other dive watches use International Orange
