Awesome, I love the larger displays on the Ultra so much I'm using it with an Android phone. I'm assuming they are shaving the bezels and not actually making the physical case larger? I promised myself I would try to keep an AW for 2-3 years this time around, but damn Apple makes it hard.

Yes!!!! It will be an instant buy for me. So ready to pull the trigger on that 50mm Apple Watch Ultra.
Nope. Not for me. I won't buy anything less than a 1,000mm Apple Watch Ultra.

I want a watch at least the size of what he is wearing here.

This will be a nice option for taller people. I’m seeing teenagers and young adults coming into my emergency department pushing 7 feet tall nowadays. I recently had a 15 year old come in who was 6’11”. 6’6”+ has become increasingly common.

My point being, everything will need to get bigger, from personal accessories to cars and houses.
I’m just a little insignificant bit over 5 ft tall and medium build and to my shock the Ultra fit on my wrist I could definitely get away with wearing it hiking and not look weird. Now it’s definitely not something I’d wear on an outing to a nice restaurant but for its intended purposes it’s fine. I can easily seeing very tall people wearing a bigger version.

Remember how iPhone started at 3.5in and now you can get up to 7.1in? Every year we said, "surely there is a maximum practical size".

We are about to see the same with watches, aren't we?

The walking skeletons that complain about the watches getting bigger need to realize they aren't the only size that exists.
Some sarcastic people don’t seem to understand that someone may make a comment about the trend of watch sizes while still knowing and acknowledging that other options from Apple exist. Heck, one might even realize that various options were even in the post. But perhaps you did not realize that the trend towards bigger and thicker watches with Apple has been going on with each size since introduction.

I would definintely prefer this size. The current AWU isn't much larger than a Series 7/8 when you factor in the bezels.

What I would welcome is a thinner AWU. It can be cumbersome with some of my dress shirts.

Otherwise the brighter display, bezel guard, and sapphire screen are huge advantages.

Nah.. The larger display, the more of power consumption.

Apple should concentrate on increasing the charging cycle time instead..

Right?! Who keeps asking apple for larger displays?

Here's two.

I am all for it. I love the size of the Ultra. They could easily go to a 52mm display. Love the bigger screen and bigger look. For tall people or those with a large wrist the Ultra is great.

Yeah I would of brought it if the screen was actually bigger, the bezels are horrible, the normal Apple Watch needs a bigger screen

Or...generally...the same people who ask for bigger phone screens, I suppose. All those forgetting that SMALLER than them people actually do exist (hint...many are women).

I'd be totally interested in the Ultra watch, but it looks ridiculously big on me. Nor are my hands big enough for the current standard iPhone size, haven't been for years (I'm really sorry, I'm well past growing age, my hands won't change). Somehow there is a predominant mindset that "bigger is always better" among both Apple decision-makers as well as many buyers (as evident by comments in many such threads). I suspect they're majorly cis male... 🤫

seems a little silly - i mean just how big *can* the screen of a watch go before you look ridiculous wearing it?

Surely there is a 'maximum practical size' for a watch screen - its not as if they can just keep getting bigger
...because everybody immediately looks at the wrists of people they encounter...except not.

What’s wrong with wearing a dive meter ? The ladies dig it. You should try it.

Lady here: no, we don't.

Oh, you'd be surprised how in-your-face bulky watches are. You can't even *not* notice them, even if you don't want to. Which, I guess... really is the entire point of those watches.

Traditional watch sizes seem to go up to 56mm. They will just probably trim the bezels.

For me, the Ultra is already pushing the "large" envelope. If it's thinner, I'm good. But if retains its thickness, that will start to look ridiculous - like wearing a dive meter.
The chasis are still using a rounded design. If they square if off like the iPhone they can probably squeeze a 10% increase in size without making the watch itself larger.

I wonder how many who think their ultra is too big are those well inside the AWU's intended audience...i.e., a camper, hunter, mega-explorer, outdoorsy person. I don't think too many of them complain since the tool helps with their hobby/interest more than the standard AW8 does.

Buying an AW ultra and not using it for anything close to its targeted use but then complaining about its size is like choosing to wear a fully stocked backpack inside all day at work then complaining about it.
AWU is like 4x4s/SUVs... Apple knows damn well that the vast majority of buyers will, at best, only aspire to the lifestyle it purports to be built for.
