Interesting way to mute watch:

You can also quickly mute new alert and notification sounds by resting the palm of your hand on the watch display and holding it there for at least three seconds. You’ll feel a tap to confirm that mute is on. You must first turn on the option in the Apple Watch app on iPhone. Tap My Watch, tap Sounds & Haptics, then turn on Cover to Mute.

Interesting way to mute watch:

Interesting you say, during the March keynote if you scroll to the 1:10 mark you can see Kevin Lynch muting the watch in this manner.

Ah you are right. I forgot about that.

I'd guess between 50-60% of charge -- which is basically the recommended "storage" charge level for all lithium ion/lithium polymer batteries.

The lithium batteries degrade faster when they're stored full or empty for long periods of time. Roughly 50% is where the batteries do the least amount of damage to themselves when they're not being used.

I know this because I have multi-rotor aircraft (not "drones"!) that have lithium polymer battery packs (lipos) that cost over $1000 each, and trust me, I do whatever I can to maximize their usable lives! :)
My multi-rotor aircraft has some drone capability, such as autonomous return to home if it loses contact with the controller. It also maintains position using GPS rather than requiring me to "fly" it all the time. It will even fly a preprogrammed path.

To excited I can't wait to play around with the :apple: Watch tomorrow!

ME TOO!!! Esp bcuz my estimated shipping originally said 5/10 - 5/24!!
and I just got an email today stating that it ships tomar and will be at my doorstep!!!! yeah boi

This is nice. One tip I have found (at least for me) is when I need the device to be quite for a while (meeting) instead of Do Not Disturb just press and hold the side button and put it in Power Reserve. Seems like less steps and gives you additional power for later in the day. "Your typical two birds, one stone scenario"

There's also an option that lets you mute it by covering the face with your hand for a few seconds. Perfect for the scenario you describe.

Hahaha! You forgot the ever increasing "ANOTHER Apple Watch article???! Why not just call this site... WATCH RUMORS!!11! *tried to hold back laugh at own joke*"

Since I'll have nothing else to do (except work, pffft) I guess this will be the first manual I've read in a long time.

I will read the manual only because I dont have the darn watch. And no indication that they will be shipping earlier than May 14th. So very bummed while others are happy.

I am happy that you are happy, but I would be even happier if I was getting a watch tomorrow.

If you guys don't know how to put on a watch, just ring your call button and Tommy will come back there and hit you on the head with a tack hammer

I won't be getting it tomorrow either, which is why I too will be reading the manual. I'd rather I had the watch, I'm in 38mm SG purgatory, but since the second I logged into the Apple Store app on 4/10 it said delivery was 5/13-27, so any time before that is a bonus to me. Maybe waking up 15 minutes late on 4/10 is saving me some disappointment.

Read that as "covering your face with your hand for a few seconds" ... I was wondering how that would help.

I'm starting to actually miss the iphone rumors. You guys wayyyy over did it with the watch thing.

yeah these entirely-new-category-launches get way too much attention every 5 years they come around....

Yay, we can change the "stock" replies. I want one that says "go away."

Important for those who have been asking if they can wear their watch on the underside of their wrists:

"In addition, the sensors will work only when you wear Apple Watch on the top of your wrist."

All you did is instigate a dispute is for certain imminent.
Thank you!

Thanks Apple!

I was wondering how to put on an Apple Watch because nobody has ever created something innovative like this in the past. I just kept holding my wrist up to it and nothing would happen.

do ppl really need a tutorial on how to wear a watch?

Just like there are people trying to do something with a device that is not powered (and not getting anywhere) because it's supposed to be "wireless". Unfortunately way too many people out there like that.

Thanks for posting that! I know someone who is intent on wearing their watch that way. What will the watch *not* be able to do if they wear it that way? If it's only fitness and not being able to send a heartbeat, they likely won't care.

The watch won't be able to do anything that the sensors are needed for. So definitely fitness stuff. Not sure about Apple Pay... it does say it needs to be in contact with your skin.
