I currently have no plans to get the watch, but will be interested to see what app and function turns out to be the "it" thing that nearly everyone wants to do.

I am SO looking forward to getting my Apple Watch! I wonder if this user guide will be added to iBooks at some point.

I ordered my Apple Watch Sport with a white sport band on April 10 a few minutes after preorders opened at 5:03pm (I live in Australia). My original confirmation said I would receive my Apple Watch after 12 May. I just received email confirmation and a tracking number last night telling me my Watch will be delivered today! I'm very happy and this is exciting news. Perhaps because the white sports band wasn't as popular?

The watch won't be able to do anything that the sensors are needed for. So definitely fitness stuff. Not sure about Apple Pay... it does say it needs to be in contact with your skin.
Well, it will be in contact with his skin. I imagine if the watch would not work if worn on the inner wrist, the warning would read: "Watch will only work if worn on top of wrist" rather than "sensors will not work..."

And this article seems to disagree, though I suspect Apple knows best.

As Apple Pay and messages, etc. work via the phone then, in theory, he should be fine wearing the watch on his inner wrist. The downside will likely only be failure of the fitness apps or sending a heartbeat via messages.

He has ordered it, and he did try one on at the store asking about wearing it that way. They didn't tell him not to do that, but the Apple employees don't seem versed in everything. I guess we'll see when he puts it on. Or, better yet, could someone getting the watch tomorrow give this a try? Please report back!

This is nice. One tip I have found (at least for me) is when I need the device to be quite for a while (meeting) instead of Do Not Disturb just press and hold the side button and put it in Power Reserve. Seems like less steps and gives you additional power for later in the day. "Your typical two birds, one stone scenario"

Excellent idea!

I must be pretty complicated to use the magnetic Milanese Loop band, if it needs the visual guide.

Taking. Forever. To. Print. Out. Page. By. Page.

On the other hand, easy to skip what I don't need.

There are visual guides as to how to plug in a TV set into a power outlet. So...yeah...

The plastic strap isn't even magnetic? Lame.

I may hold out for the Microsoft Time Teller 6.0 Professional Human Wrist Edition.

To be clear, I didn't say the watch wouldn't work. I merely quoted the user guide published by Apple, which states that the sensors won't work if worn on inside of wrist. You asked what the sensors control... I simply was taking a stab at it. I don't know if Apple Pay will work or not. I guess we will see.

Did anyone notice that under "Important handling information" the guide states :
The following may affect the water resistance of Apple Watch and should be avoided:

Dropping Apple Watch or subjecting it to other impacts.

Submerging Apple Watch in water for long periods of time.

Swimming or bathing with Apple Watch.

Exposing Apple Watch to pressurized water or high velocity water, for example, showering, water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on.

Wearing Apple Watch in the sauna or steam room.

oh ya sure, this will be a good read

Back in the day, a watch didn't need a manual... now we have smart watches and we have a manual to go along with...

i missed a generation somewhere.....

Back in the day a watch didn't do anything except tell time. And even those simplest watches today still come with a manual.
