It'd be a lot more popular if they let the aWatch work with Android. For me at least, the only reason I don't have an aWatch is because I don't like iOS and don't wan't an iPhone.

Yeah, I want to get an Apple Watch, but the thing I need out of a smartwatch more than anything else is sleep tracking and that's hard to do when you're expected to charge it at night. The day Apple gets to 2+ days on a charge, I'll be in line for one of them. Until then, I've got to find a more suitable device.

I personally use sleep cycle on the Apple Watch. As soon as I wake up, I charge for an hour while I get ready and have breakfast.

Also a spare charger at the office could solve the issue.

The battery isn't great, but it's about my only "issue" with the watch now, so I'm happy to work with it :)

I just looked it up and it's a nice device. Very slim and trim. But from what I saw the Apple Watch has much more in the way of features that suit me. Alerts for one. I don't have to take out my phone when I get a text or email.
Yep very handy! When people see me make a phone call on mine people still have this puzzled look on their face.
I was playing break music on my phone and used my watch fob to turn the music down...
the band loves that.

I legitimately see apple watches EVERYWHERE.. not sure about people claiming to see none or very few... I was talking to my brother the other day, pretty wealthy guy who has his far share of high end watches, even he is more interested in an Apple Watch than his $20k+ watches he already has. People legit value what the Watch has to offer....Not sure about the “ugly” comment either...my series 4 Milanese loops gets compliments all the time.

See them everywhere in the UK and US.

Pish-posh. Back in 2014, MacRumors’ members declared the iWatch as DOA, ugly, a gimmick, a toy, that Android Wear/Samsung/Motorola is better simply because they are round, have always-on displays and better screen/body ratio, and Samsung’s legenary input method, the rotating dial, DESTROYS the lame Digital Crown. Or in other words, they are better because they are notApple. Are you suggesting these same members were wrong about their evaluation of this product and its efficiency?

This doesn't read like its coming from a well informed place. Why not let the sleep disorder guy be the judge of his sleep disorder.

There are plenty of reviews on sleep tracking gimmicks. They offer only very superficial insights into actual sleep patterns. If you actually have a sleep disorder, figuring this out will require deep sleep analysis in a professional lab. Everything else is mere anecdotal and perhaps fun to see.

Not suggesting anything about the AWatch, but always be aware of percentage growth stats. If Tim Apple sold 6 watches this year versus 4 last year, that is 50% YOY growth (small base always helps increase YOY pct stats). Sadly the SEC is completely fine with companies like Apple (there are many others) deciding not to provide investors with the absolute numbers for key categories (iPhone). "Competitive information..." We do know that Apple bought an additional $17 Billion in stock the last quarter on their way to likely $1 Trillion in buy backs. Hard to believe - it is so far beyond what has been done before. But when you gush cash, why not?

Have you read the article? There are unit estimates too. And think before writing, they don’t say how many units they sell but they say how much money they made , from an investor perspective is the same. SEC concern is not internet haters and armchair quarterbacks

Well that's interesting and encouraging. I've been going off of Apple's product info. For some reason, they only rate it at "up to 18 hours"?

Do you do anything special to extend the battery life (like use it with ultra low brightness)?

If someone didn't already reply, the trick to sleeping with the watch and maintaining battery life is to turn on theater mode when you sleep. Theater mode stops raise to wake (which is also something you don't want while sleeping anyway). I normally wear my watch to bed and charge it while getting ready in the morning or for a few minutes when I sit down at my desk in the morning.

Ouch FitBit. At this rate I'm going to have to jump ship to Garmin.

BTW... not a hater post. I want an Apple Watch, but the battery life makes it impossible for those of us with sleep disorders who need sleep tracking.
My series 3 lasts for 2 days. Just charge it while you’re taking a shower in the morning.

People were afraid Tim couldn’t deliver a hit new product in a new category, but the Apple Watch seems like a roaring success. That’s 50% YOY growth from Q2 last year.

It’s a miniature paired down iPhone for your wrist. I’d hardly call it a brand new product. A more powerful version of the iPod nano from earlier that could be wrist attached.

A brand new game changing genre defining product has yet to be delivered

Smart watches are for children.
Huh?

No offense to the 7 people who own an iWatch, much like the 3 people who own the iHomePod, but is this even still a thing? I haven’t seen a single person wearing an iWatch in public. First, this thing would actually be useful if it was round. Don’t care if rectangle is more functional. Circle looks nicer. Second, no one cares about health. Americans are massively obese by choice. Stop shoving health in my face, stupid Apple. I like eating McDonald’s every day, that’s my choice, stop shaming me.
I don’t even know where to start with a comment like this.

I agree it would rise in popularity if they did this but I inversely wish they would allow non-Apple Watches to work more fluently with Android watches.

Noones shoving anything down your throat. You chose to come to the mac rumors forum and read about it. Stop projecting. In london, every second or third person I come across in all walks of life is wearing an Apple Watch. They are completely ubiquitous now.

Walking through one of our theme parks I counted just for amusement. I stopped at over 100

I loved it when Walt Disney World started seriously supporting Apple Pay. I remember being there thinking "Wouldn't it be great if I could pay for things with my watch regularly in day to day to life like I do here?" A couple years later that's becoming a reality.

I wear my NIKE+ sport version to the gym and that's it.

That's really nowhere near your starting position so perhaps you've benefitted from the googling you've been doing. More importantly, diagnosing a disorder requires completely different tools to merely living with one after its been diagnosed.

You could just disable the health features and use the apple watch map app to find the nearest McDonald's.
