I'd kill for a red sports band or leather loop. The fact that they don't yet offer it yet [at least as a (PRODUCT)RED sport band] is puzzling. These things should be produced in many different colors so people (if so inclined) can match them to their OOTD. It would net Apple more money and cement the Apple Watch as a fashion device even further.

Fair enough, it shows "Jony", but he still wouldn't look round if you called out "Hey, Joe-knee"!

If you shouted Jonny (rhymes with Bonnie (& Clyde)), you'd have his attention for sure.

Yes, as we have ALL been saying, he spells it Jony and pronounces it Jonny. So, unless you prefer to spell everything phonetically, you were spelling it wrong.

Actually, that sounds like fun. I will spell everything fo-net-i-call-ee from now on.

Ok this is getting ridiculous. Apple needs to spend less time designing custom watches for their marketing purposes and more time producing the actual consumer watches that they are unable to ship until the bloody summer.

yes, because the designers are the ones slaving away 24/7 in chinese factories building millions and millions of units.

right.

I do love the fact this story is trying to get us excited about the Apple watch but we're all dribbling over the folding UK plug :D

I hear you. I still struggle to call Steve Jobs "Jahbs" instead of "Jobes" like the Bible pronunciation. NO idea why I always saw it that way...

ha. the joeny -> johnny transition is actually an easy one.. jony ive is now associated with this guy in my brain:

should be easy to remember
:D

Not sure of the point of the folding charger...lets face it, it's not going to get unplugged much is it?

It might not for the Watch but it would sure as hell make a good accessory for the iPhone. From a safety standpoint the UK plug is really well designed and might as well be designed by the ever pragmatic Japanese - see Nintendo consoles and Toyota cars - they don't look like much but they're pretty reliable and useful for their purposes.
But lugging around that gargantuan piece of plastic that is the UK plug is quite frankly a PITA. Whenever I travel to the UK I always remember to take every possible USB and Lightning cable and just one UK mains plug for the Macbook so I can charge everything with it instead of bringing yet another giant plug in the already limited airline luggage.

Love the red band but can see perfectly why they haven't (yet) released it. The premier $17,000 model is the gold Edition with red leather band. To produce a red sports band for the masses would diminish the 'elite' appeal of that version. Not unreasonable to think they might announce a special Product Red at some stage, but perhaps only once the initial Edition market has been saturated.

Steve was missing the excellence of the British plug: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEfP1OKKz_Q
related.

Steve wasn't missing anything. The highlighted features are hardly excellent and they're actually present even in the plugs of most European countries, most of them in an improved fashion (i.e. you can't plug them upside down gaining access to the dangerous contacts and you can't unscrew them with a screwdriver). The only way British plug distinguish itself is that it's bulky and ugly. The foldable version is a very welcome improvement, but the Brits should just switch to a more sensible standard, theirs is terribly old fashioned, inconvenient and not so safe as they think. But after all they still use separate taps for cold and hot water, so I lost hope they'll ever change... sometimes I think they're different in everything just for the sake of being different :D

When you are traveling, every cubic inch counts. Any plug that can be made foldable and at least moderately robust, should be, in my opinion.

The UK plug isn't just used in the UK, a number of other countries use it as well (all of them former British colonies, I think)

Off the top of my head, Ireland, Hong Kong and Singapore use it and some other countries in Africa and Asia as well.

Any idea what the little blue padlock icon means at the top of the watch face?

Phone is locked? Watch is locked? Is it a demo unit?

A lot of hate for the UK plug. It's by far the best plug IMO. Once it's in it is secure and safe.

Would love a product (RED) Apple Watch band!

Sir Jonny didn't invent folding plugs you know... ;)

He didn't. But again, Apple have certainly made the most aesthetically pleasing one. ;)

Couldn't agree more. It's awful to travel with, but it's definitely the most secure.
When travelling I'm literally scared of using adapters and foreign plugs.

But yes! RED Sport Band for everyone!

You're right: it's safe only once it's in, which is also the only moment when it's nice to look at :D

Jokes aside, can you elaborate why do you think it's the best one? In the video someone else posted there is not a single feature other plugs don't already have in an improved fashion ;)
