Steve Jobs hated British plugs (he said that at the UK launch of the original iPhone).

Jony has probably exhausted all resources to try and make them as small and as neat as possible.

That's interesting. Since we use the same plugs here in Ireland, I hope to see the same design here (for this and other Apple devices) particularly since it's 100% backwards compatible ;) For a nice change.

I have to say, for making UK-style plugs smaller and more useful though, nothing beats this!

I guess Ive likes handing out gifts. He gifted an iPad 2 to Ricky Gervais and an iPad to Boris Johnson.

Folding USB plugs have been available on the auction site for years. Plenty others available too but it would be nice if Apple ship these with smaller devices...

Any idea what the little blue padlock icon means at the top of the watch face?

Phone is locked? Watch is locked? Is it a demo unit?

I believe it means the watch is locked - he had probably only just put it on, or had been shifting it around enough for it to temporarily "lose track" of his wrist and lock itself to prevent unauthorised use, and he has yet to input the password (on his iPhone) to unlock it.

"British cyclist and former professional rugby player Will Carling"

WTF? Makes him sound like he cycles for the British Team! He's a recreational cyclist

That's actually not a unique plug for the UK. I've had a slimplug (that is the product name) since 2010.

That being said, they are great for putting in your bag and not finding plug holes in it!!

That's the exact look of my iPhone 6!

I have my iPhone 6 wrapped in the red Apple rubber case. I would normally not by red (and had never used a case before this), but it was the only one available other than pink the day after launch. I decided the new iPhone was slippery like a river rock and that I needed to put something on it. I actually love the black/red combo.

I would pay to upgrade all my plugs to that design. And I don't ever travel very often.

I would suspect that would be a very bad move as they would be much more dangerous in the long run than a normal plug, and also less able to handle high currents.

For low current uses like this, and as long as they are not too old, they are probably ok though.

You're right: it's safe only once it's in, which is also the only moment when it's nice to look at :D

Jokes aside, can you elaborate why do you think it's the best one? In the video someone else posted there is not a single feature other plugs don't already have in an improved fashion ;)

Couldn't find the video. Well I only have experience with the america and european 2 pin ones which I find fall out way too easily, and don't have the added safety of the earth pin which opens the shutters on plug sockets.

Once a UK plug is in it's in.

It's hard to see in the small picture but there is some sort of logo on the red band that you can see when looking at the full size picture... I wonder if it's the product red logo or something.

That's the M/L symbol, telling the size. I really hope that Will Carling is trolling and it's not this easy to accidentally wear a piece of your sports band upside down.

hang on... Applecare just sent me one of those adaptors, the very same one - you means it's NEW? Wow, I am special.

Excellent plug!

I for one can't wait to stop treading on these upturned buggers barefoot in the middle of the night!

People more exited about the plug then the watch

That says everything

the thread is about the red colored band and the plug.. both of which are being discussed.

seems like it says people itt are generally staying on topic. is that what you mean by 'everything'? or something else?

The US iPhone/iPad 5W adapter needs to be a little bit slimmer so it plays nicely in a surge protector (the fact that its prongs are centered makes the charger offset on the outlet). A folding version of the US model would be awesome, too!

Of course, the best case scenario would be if they made the 12W model in the size of the 5W model. One can dream, right?

I was actually quite surprised that there was no Product (RED) sport band offered. I would have bought that one in a "red hot" second (instead got the black for my stainless watch).

I do hope it's coming.

ETA: A couple of the store employees I've talked with this week at various Apple Stores, were also surprised that there was no (RED) option.
