I just got through talking to a salesman at the Cincinnati AT&T Phone store. For me to get an iPhone (we were talking about when the 4G comes out) I would have to sign up and the least expensive plan I could get would be $70/mo. I would have to buy the iPhone, of course) and there are no bundles or discounts at all. Then there is a $30/mo charge for data transfer in addition, and this does not include texting. The extra would be $100/month just to own the phone and work it on ATT in Cincinnati.

ATT does not offer home phones or high speed internet in Cincinnati. They are not allowed. They pointed me to Time Warner (about whom everyone complains bitterly here) for my home phone and internet needs.

Right now I am paying about $140/mo for high speed internet, home phone, two cell phones (one of which is a smart phone) and that includes the data transfer part of the plan.

In other words, for me to make a "legitimate" switch would cost me 71% of what I am paying now just to own the iPhone and run it on their set up.

I am just going to duct tape my iTouch to the Blackberry and have a hybrid phone. :(

there are AT&T FAN discounts

such as if you work for HP you get like 27% off your monthly bill

i attend a university, they give me 15% off my monthly bill

I find it amusing when people talk about all this Android market share nonsense. Of course Android's market share is going to increase, we are talking about an OS platform, Google does not make hardware just like Microsoft. There are dozens of Android phones out there right now, it stands to reason they'd have an increase market share, just like BlackBerry which releases a new handset almost every week! The real story here is the fact that Apple has managed in 3 or so short years jump to the #2 Smartphone by market share based only on ONE device on ONE network, that's impressive. Will Apple eventually make the iPhone available on other networks? Most likely. Should people really get over this market share argument? Yes.

Show me ONE phone with Android, ONE phone ALONE that comes close to the iPhones sales, and then we can talk. Don't show some silly stats that combine a dozen phones stacked up against just the iPhone. You look like a fool.
