RIP to all those who don't look at the sky to know if it is sunny/cloudy/rainy today!
I live in Scotland. Things here are more complicated that just looking at the sky - I am looking for a forecast, and just because it's blue skies now doesn't mean that 5 minutes from now there won't be hail. The two pictures shown below were taken from where I live in Scotland, one after the other, standing in the same place, with one picture facing one direction, and the other facing the opposite direction:

Anyway, I had the same problem with Apple's app this morning but it seems to have corrected itself now. Even if this was just a server snafu, Apple's app seems far less reliable to me in terms of forecasts. I wonder if Apple is not paying for the same quality of meteorological information that Dark Skies did.

This was happening to me well before 16.4 was released. It was happening with 16.2 if I recall correctly.

Apple is currently experiencing issues with its weather data provider, leaving many users unable to see live weather information and forecasts for regions in the Weather app.

The issue appears to be affecting many users across the globe, with Weather apps on several Apple platforms impacted, including iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and macOS.

Apple is currently trying to resolve an issue with its Weather service according to its System Status webpage, although the issue summary only lists next-hour precipitation as unavailable for Alaska "due to a data provider outage," when in fact numerous regions and forecast types are down.

Apple says the issue affecting "some users" began around five hours ago as of writing and is "ongoing," although some iPhone users are reporting that they have had intermittent issues with Weather data since the iOS 16.4 update was released a week ago. We'll update this story when the problem is reported as resolved.

OK I asked Siri (you magical voice in the storm you ❤️) about weather today and voila! She popped a window open for weather here in Northern Virginia with a nice forecast - cannot verify its accuracy - but she says it’ll be 79°F today. Checked weather app and it worked...for now

Having this issue today. Also had it on Friday. Didn't have an issue at all between these days. The biggest problem with that for me is that we had a severe weather outbreak on Friday and more is possible today.

Granted, I have another weather app that is FAAAAAR more detailed than Apple's...so this isn't the end of the world for me. But still...a weather app not working on severe weather days isn't exactly something that builds confidence. It's a shame really, because it's pretty spot on around here but the two days I've been having the issues with it are the worst possible times.

I think this is the longest outage Apple has ever had. I remember Facebook was down for half a day or so years ago. Good time. 🤣

Weather was working for me earlier but now it’s not. Seems like it’s still intermittent. I’m running 16.4.

But also for me, the 16.4 iOS betas and the final release broke my “M“ and “L” Stock widgets (the daily graphs are missing but pricing is ok).

Interestingly for me, iPadOS is working fine. These bugs are limited to only iOS.

Doing a Soft Reset on my 12.9 inch iPad Pro (5th Generation), and iPhone 13 Pro Max fixed this issue.

To do a Soft Reset on an iPad or iPhone with Face ID do the following:

1. Press the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button in quick succession.
2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the Apple logo appear, then immediately release the Sleep/Wake button.
3. Once you log back into your device, open the Weather App and it should update the information momentarily.

To do a Soft Reset on an iPad or iPhone with Touch ID do the following:

1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button until you see the Apple logo appear, then immediately release both buttons.
2. Once you log back into your device, open the Weather App and it should update the information momentarily.

I hope this helps someone. 😊

Again weather app not loading but bust in with a query of Siri “hey Sirii what’s the weather here?” and book, weather app fills. Coincidence? Siri spanking tye app?

Mine was doing it a few minutes ago. When I swiped away from the default current location it loaded. After that the we default location works too.

Also happening on iPadOS 16.5 beta. Apple is getting sloppy. Now if they could just fix the problem with using APP2 with an iPhone 14 Pro. It takes 5 seconds for the call to be heard on the APP2 after answering. If after answering, I manually select the APP2 as the output from the list, the call terminates. Come on Apple, get with it!!!

Mine is also back (US EST).

Sheesh.

Really butchers the fake claim tjat "different teams work on different things".

People got pulled from iOS to instead work on realityOS.

People use this app???

*Pretends to be shocked*

The weather app on my iPhone and Mac FINALLY started working again but this outage doesnt surprise me one bit. Not only did they bury Dark Sky, they continue to rely on the Weather Channel which in my experience is hot garbage. Not saying that the Weather Channel is the reason for the outage but when they bought Dark Sky, I kind of figured that they would do a half-assed implementation of it into the weather app and I was right.

This outage is also the reason why I have three different weather apps installed on my phone...
