I can see nothing being ready to ship. Either late Summer or Fall for something. This event will focus on betas like iOS 8, 10.10, iWatch OS 1.0, and things of that nature.

Very happy that the 8GB 5S isn't going to happen. Let's move up to 32/64/128GB across the board Apple, it's about time.

Exactly! I mean, I don't have a huge amount of apps or data on my phone but even I go way over 8GB. A couple of my family members have the 8GB iPhone 4 they brought out and they're struggling so badly with the storage space. Especially as one of them has kids who want all the latest apps on her phone, to play.

So what hardware is Apple actually releasing at WWDC? Anything?

Every suggestion/rumour keeps getting shot down.

I do not think we should expect any form of hardware at WWDC. WWDC is meant as a developers conference where new software is announced and Apple talk one-to-one with developers about improving their apps and making sure their apps are compatible with upcoming software releases. I know we've had iPhones announced at WWDC in the past but that doesn't seem to be the way Apple work anymore. Expect iOS 8, OSX 10.10 and maybe a couple of other nuggets. Don't be disappointed when no hardware is announced.

By the sounds of it, the iPhone 6 event is gonna be pretty darn huge. We'll probably see the iPhone 6 in two sizes with drastically changed hardware, maybe an iPhone 6c, new iPads with TouchID, new Apple TV, new iMacs, new MacBooks, new Mac mini and even the iWatch should make an appearance. Don't expect too much from WWDC. Although, software is still exciting!

Apple announced the rMBP in 2012 and nMP in 2013 at WWDC. Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac said he expects new hardware to be announced next week. Yes, WWDC is a developer conference but let's face it, new hardware is what excites people and we haven't had any (aside from a minor spec bump with the Air) since last October. The WWDC keynote isn't just for develops. If all we get on Monday is sneak peaks at new versions of OSX and iOS I think many will consider it to be a letdown.

Is this guy a self-important toolbag? Yep.

Do I care one iota for what he says or does? Nope.

I can see why you feel like that. He does come across that way, though he might be a great guy for all I know. In fact, I'm sure he is :)

However whether you like it or not he is correct much of the time, at least regarding Apple.

So, are we going to get any new hardware at all? MacBook air's were just bumped, no iMacs, I don't see iPods getting any love anymore.

Phone and ipad will be in the fall.

So, all software and 45 minutes about the moronic Beats purchase?

Ugh.

2011 is the only WWDC not to include hardware since the Intel switch announcement back in 2005. 2011 was a different year for Apple for obvious reasons.

WWDC isn't just about software. It's about Apple. Hardware and software. Both of which are used by developers. It's way for developers to see the software they have to work with/for as well as the hardware they have to use.

He is guessing now. Not reporting what Apple has said. This makes him an analyst in respect to this article.

Nope. He doesn't say anything unless he knows. He's believed to have a source within Apple. Can you give us an example where he got it wrong? Which is more likely: he never guesses wrong or he has an actual source?

If you read what he "noped" there is a lot of room for interpretation in there, could be that the iMac's and the 8GB iPhone are going to be stealth updated when the store comes back up after WWDC.

Why would Apple want to introduce a cheaper iPhone and iMac during WWDC anyways? For Macs especially the bar for talking about them at a media event is set pretty high at this point, it's either major new feature (retina) or redesign really.

I think at this point WWDC is either an all software show or includes products that wont be released for at least a 4+ weeks after introduction.

You would think any other products with a full redesign would of been leaked already.

No New Releases

Of course not. Apple tends to wait until its competition releases all the new innovations before it puts our its old, tired looking devices. Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave with the lack of anything inspiring nor creative from Apple.:(

No it doesn't. Analysts are those cloud-dwelling, disconnected beings who try to discern Apple's every move from 3rd hand rumours about supply chain and a lot of guesswork about what they think Apple *should* do.

Journalists report on things they heard which they believe likely to be true.

Jim Dalrymple is a journalist. He's not always right, he editorialises quite a lot, he rambles occasionally. If he posts a one word 'yep' or 'nope' that historically means he has heard very good evidence that whatever he yep'ed or nop'ed is or isn't happening and he has a fairly solid track record on those types of posts.

Put another way, when Jim writes I mostly believe it, when he writes one word, I think he knows .. and then I carefully read what he replied to ..

Dalrymple's last "Yep" turned out to be a "Nope" so none of these guys have unblemished track records with predictions.

Citation needed.

Self-important toolbag? Uhm no. Jim is a great guy, and has more credibility in this industry than almost anyone.

It's obvious you know nothing about him.

STILL waiting for the Haswell update for the Mac mini. :(

Given how long we've waited already and how close we're supposed to be to Broadwell, I'd rather wait a bit longer at this point. Otherwise, the Mac mini will only get Broadwell in 2016.

Thank god we aren't getting another 8GB iPhone. 8GB in this era is nothing but a waste and quite laughable.

8gb isn't laughable, if you are getting the phone for the UI. Which is often the case and why the C is just fine.

----------

Who cares about the iMac or the 8GB 5s iPhone ask Jim Dalrymple about something interesting like "Home Control"!

He would never comment on something like that even if he knew. That he doesn't reveal that kind of thing is why Apple hasn't gizmodo'd him.

----------

I think as well as some new products, there will also be a number of products officially killed off during WWDC, namely;
iPod Classic
iPod shuffle
iPod nano

IF there are plans to kill any of those it will happen in the fall during the traditional IOS release

----------

I don't care what Jim Dalrymple says. He's just another analyst. And he acts all up himself with his one word responses.

Then you don't know who he is. Jim is very respected by Apple, because he is NOT an analyst 'acting himself up' with BS stories and predictions. He doesn't yep or nope unless Apple is okay with him saying it.
