I would have thought that an iMac refresh being in the works for some future date was a pretty safe bet, even without any reference in the beta.

Possibly. Look at the Mac Mini though, that poor thing hasn't seen an update since 2012!

Thank god we aren't getting another 8GB iPhone. 8GB in this era is nothing but a waste and quite laughable.

I think it's just to set up Apple to have the 5S as an entry level product for those that don't want much more than a basic smartphone. I have an iPhone 4 with 8GB and I really don't do much with it because the screen's too small and I use my iPad and desktop computer to do most of my more serious minded work and the iPhone is more for just texting, phone calls, and that's about it.

I'm waiting for the larger screen iPhone since I just really prefer a larger, more useful screen size.

But if I just wanted a basic functionality smartphone, I can see a market for a 8GB 5S, but I don't think it really deserves much attention at WWDC, that's for sure. It's more of a "Oh, btw, we have a cheap entry level 5S" for those that only need that level of functionality, but want fingerprint ID, a 4inch screen, 64 Bit, and the ability to run future versions of the OS.

I logged in for the first time in months to note the burn that Kuo just received.

Ps. I'm for the Beats deal. And called it that it would remain on Android.

Very surprised and sad that the design team deal is broken (forget the name) and that Apple would take over design. I mean that cool and all but wouldn't you keep the original design team/ company? Absorb them?

Anyway gg macrumors :)

Kuo burn is not newsworthy tbh as he is just like the rest who say every rumour will happen and then say they told you so when one in a hundred of their predictions happens. The news worthy thing would be if he was genuinely right on something that wasnt obvious to everyone already and the shocking thing being that Macrumors will continue to use him as a trustworthy rumour source.

As for Beats, the main thing from the company hardware wise we will see I imagine is inclusion in macs and the licensing agreements are either now nul or in their last term of use.

The design company was not in house to Beats I believe instead they actually hired a company to come up with the 'Pill' design which looks cheap and tacky, not to mention they marketed the damn thing with the decades rape anthem >.> ( despise that song ). Apple will do a far better job designing the Beats wearables and luckily prices should stay the same or even come down as they were always priced far above their quality level.

So no new iMacs that hopefully would have been low-costed.....

Thats too bad, I assume this wwdc would focus on iOS 8 and next mac OS

Im super excited for the new OS X tbh!

"designed for emerging markets"

this sentence is already becoming a mantra, as soon as you say it you get media spotlight....

QFT. $1000 16GB phones with non-expandable memory are laughable as it is. Don't make it worse, Apple.

Note he said nope to a low cost iMac. This doesn't rule out a high cost iMac!#########.

question is, when will apple bring touchid to all their devices? i want a fingerprint password manager already!

Dalrymple's last "Yep" turned out to be a "Nope" so none of these guys have unblemished track records with predictions.

Really? When was that?
I thought the Yeps were indeed as close to confirmation as any analyst or journalist could be, without being actually from Apple itself.

I think as well as some new products, there will also be a number of products officially killed off during WWDC, namely;
iPod Classic
iPod shuffle
iPod nano
Non-retina iPad mini
Non-retina MacBook pros
AirPort Extreme (replaced by lower cost time capsule)
iLife (only GarageBand surviving, with iPhoto being replaced by a cut down aperture and iMovie replaced by a cut down Final Cut Pro, both focused on dual ios / OS X screen working)

That was very specific questioning. The question was 'Will there be a cheaper iMac released'. That doesn't mean new iMacs in general won't be released. Yes i am clutching at straws, but hey ho that's what we're here for!

I think their 8GB phones are actually a good idea, great for capturing emerging markets and for parents who want to get their young kids iPhones without feeling too guilty about it :/ If you don't like them just don't buy them, they're not negatively affecting you in anyway

I quite like the 8GB iPhone 5c, given it's cheap prices on certain contract deals here in the UK (but not at Apple's list price, which is ridiculous).

But an 8GB 5s makes no sense at all - what fool started that rumour?

I don't care what Jim Dalrymple says. He's just another analyst. And he acts all up himself with his one word responses.

I'll wait for the mouth of Apple to speak thanks.

Why would Apple waste time at WWDC talking about an 8GB iPhone and a cheaper iMac? They can just release those quietly if they want to, I'd rather they make some actually interesting updates.

Actually you are parsing things correctly.

I was about to contest your including the AirPort Extreme: Why, they just redesigned it! But I didn't realize how much more it was exactly like the Time Capsule now. It's pretty silly to keep it now that they can fill in the gap easily. Furthermore, I would imagine explaining the difference between AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme can get somewhat confusing for retailers.

I may be in the minority as I exclude Movies and iTunes folder (backed up separately) but I have 3 years of backups on a 320 GB HD with 100 GB still free. A 1+ TB Time Capsule at or close to the AirPort Extreme price would more than suit my needs.
