Oh well, hopefully this will teach Apple a lesson and they won't repeat the same design three years in a row (possibly for, as everything seem going in the direction of an iPhone 7S identical to the iPhone 7)

Highly doubt it, apple is planning something special for 10 years.
They released the 7 because hey had to release something.

I think it has less to do with new features or a sexy new design.
But rather people are okay with their existing smartphone.
Most iPhones from the last 3-4 years are still very functional, and simply good enough.
Most people will just need to text, the occasional voice call, and a few core apps.
The cameras are again, good enough.

Well Apple, it may be a good idea to not use the same design for three years in a row.

Genuinely curious - how often should a product be completely redesigned? MacBooks and iMacs (and even iPads) go several years before significant design changes. But for some reason I feel like there's this irrational desire to have drastic redesign to the iPhone. Maybe it's from the 2 year design cycle it was going through. But with time, it seems like there's only so much the design can evolve.

The only thing apple should do is work on the bezel to screen ratio. Reduce those bezels please.
Take note at Samsung and other OEMs.

Note 7 had a bigger screen yet its smaller overall.

Sluggish sales and STILL not in stock at any Verizon stores around me. I'm getting really sick of companies pulling this BS.

Interesting to read all the sarcastic comments that it is caused by a lack of inovations on the 7. Sure, I'm not overwhelmed by the 7 compared to the 6s but there are more to it than that I think.

Actually, the article said "the phones still have sold more sluggishly than expected" and not anything about seasonal slowdowns - big difference (if true).
What does that even mean? Quantify that? I know when AirPods are ramping up production because of better than expected sales the trolls try to say its a conspiracy by Apple.

I love how every year orders go down in Q1, yet no one seems to bat an eye when it's claimed to be due to poor sales.

Maybe, and stay with me here guys, you don't need to produce as many phones a month as you do during the run up to the Holiday season??

I'd love to know how to get an analyst job, must be nice to be paid to just make claims regardless of the impact or veracity of them. I'd start with a piece on Butterball being in trouble because turkey sales mysteriously slowed down after November...for some unknowable reason.
Not saying you're wrong, but do you have any concrete data to back up that claim? I did a very, very, very quick search of MR articles from Dec-Jan starting in 2013. I made it through Dec '14-Jan '15 and didn't find any reference articles to support this "every year" idea. Granted, I'm not wearing my glasses and I stopped a time or two going down rabbit holes:oops:, but yeah didn't find that to be the case.

Headphone Jack. We tried to warn everyone that was a bridge too far. But you know.... THINNER !!!!

Headphone jacks are so dead and ancient, I'm so over that but I do agree with you on the unnecessary thinness of the phone. Thinness doesn't always mean innovation.

The problem is the phone didn't get thinner. What what excuse is next?

Upgrade the 7S+ with the same or comparable image sensor as Google's Pixel (IMX378. 1/2.3", 1.55µm) and I'll buy it even if it's identical in appearance to my 6+. Of course a smaller sensor is required for the zoom lens but if it has OIS then at least it's more useful in low light.

Such high end modules would hurt Apple's precious margins, so realistically I'd like to see a special "Pro" model with the superior camera modules. I'll pay a $100 - $150 premium for such a model and I'll bet I'm far from the only one. If the camera's performance and IQ significantly surpasses other smartphones then Apple burnishes their tarnished reputation as a technology leader and pulls in a lot of Android users.

Camera enthusiasts are a niche market, but Apple has lost them to Android users. They're the sort who would drop the cash for an iMac or MacBook to get the advantages of Apple's ecosystem. Hear that Apple? You'll sell lots of high margin products!

If only Apple could figure out to have ample supply when the phone actually came out. Every year they made people wait upto 6 weeks to get these devices.. LOL honestly, if i order at launch and im to expect my delivery in end of November or something, the phone is obsolete by that time hehe

These exact same production cut rumors come out like clockwork somewhere between November and January (while orders for Q1 are being placed). This is clockwork, this is constant year to year, yet it makes news every year based on clickbait ******** and lazy reporting.

You see one tech news site report, they all do in "me too" fashion. I'm sure someone makes a killing off the temporary stock drop every single year these damn "cuts" or "production issues" stories come out.

Nothing to see here folks, we'll see you all here in 10-12 months for the next great production cut "scandal".

Apple plans to reduce production of the iPhone line by 10 percent beginning in the first quarter of 2017, according to supplier data collected by Nikkei. Apple is said to have experienced a similar situation thanks to accumulated inventory of the iPhone 6s late in 2015, which also caused it to lower output of that smartphone in Q1 2016.

The company attempted to prevent the same thing from happening again with the iPhone 7 by curbing production quantities on the 2016 smartphone, but even with that preemptive move Apple is again looking at a manufacturing downturn for its flagship iPhone line in the new year.

In the report, Nikkei cites "sluggish" global sales for the iPhone 7 as the main reason behind the move. Because of this, the production cuts are expected to be focused on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Apple could have capitalized on Samsung's Galaxy Note7 problems earlier in the year, but according to a collection of analysts the iPhone 7 lacked "compelling" features and failed to garner interest in the new smartphone line. In September, Apple made the decision not to divulge the first weekend sales for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Throughout the year, a "doom and gloom" sentiment has followed the company ever since it reported its first revenue decline in thirteen years.

Later in 2017, Apple will launch the next-generation iPhone, which is currently rumored to come in three different sizes, one of which will include a flexible OLED display with a bezel-free design. Rumors are still conflicting, however, with a report from Mac Otakara suggesting that next year's iPhone could be an iterative update on the design of the iPhone 7 with beefed up internals.

[doublepost=1483123426][/doublepost]I would love be the next phone to have a battery that lasts the whole day( I don't care that it is thinner) has a scratch shatter proof glass and is water proof

Let's wait and see what the actual sales numbers are. The high price not the design is the deciding factor for most people. Hence why Apple does well on Xmas.

Please slow down and think for yourself instead of listening to trolls. They didn't make the phone thinner!!!! They used the space to make the battery larger, add a second speaker, increase the size of the haptic engine and increase its water resistance
