That's not Apples problem.

By the way, I believe the App Store is slowly dying.

I know literally no-one who bought a paid app, maybe a really small In-App purchase.
I cannot recall wether Apple has bragged about the payouts to devs recently.

Considering the hardware lineup, with limited Xcode support, I know lots of people who simply stopped developing.
Also, GDPR, Terms and Conditions, etc. play a role for small devs.

How is this any different from day one? Big development shops always make the most money on the App Store. (Apple always leaves this detail out when they boast about how much money "devs" are making.)

would love to see stereo speakers in landscape mode on the 2020 ipads, only real disadvantage for casual use compared to the pros

How much longer you think this sticks around? Look for price increases on new entry iPad as well as the iPad mini as Apple also goes lower quality.
The regular iPad really is a black swan in Apple's lineup. Everything is extremely expensive.

Seems like the regular iPad was specced and priced by Santa Claus.

Big Apps are usually free, except Freemium Games.
I agree that those still make money.

Serious Question: When did you last pay in the App Store?

I'm certain that I only bought one App for my mom via family sharing.

Heh I don’t know if there’s even a problem here I spent maybe 10-20 on games in the last year and from a familiar dev at that. But I can’t draw conclusions from that. It’s definitely rare that I buy something or fool with “free” apps.

they introduced a 10” iPad Pro last year so apps are already optimized for that screen size
Lat year they introduced a 10.5” (not 10”), and apps are not really optimised for it (at least How you browse on Safari isn’t)

People have been waiting for years for Apple to update the mini4. And now they are likely to release a mini5 with a crap display...

Apple really needs to evolve from non-laminated displays. I understand that Apple wants reduce costs (and increase profits). But in 2019, non-laminated displays are inexcusable. They were even inexcusable in 2018.

Not sure I buy this. Sure there are fans of the mini but that’s not why iPad sales have been flat.

Umm...

Just two days ago, I bought Grimvalor and upgraded to launch centre pro. I may not be spending as much on new apps compared to when I first got my iPad, but I still buy apps from time to time.

Have they lost their mind?
iPad mini, 9.7”, 10”, 10.5”, 11” and 12”.
At the moment the only one with optimised apps (including Safari) is the 9.7”.
This is ridiculous.
8”, 10”, 12” is all apple needs.

Oh and 1000 Euro for an iPad? Get the **** out apple.

What are the chances of usb-c on these things?

Think they will shift everything over yet or stick to it being ‘pro only’.

I think Apple will keep USB-C Pro only for a while. They will likely add Pencil 1 support to the mini, which I would buy in a minute for work. Since it won’t be marketed as a desktop/laptop replacement, no need for USB-C — keep it compatible with the iPhone for most users, just like the iPad.

Again. I disagree.
It's just that we are in a Mac Forum.
The iPad market share is minimal, and tablets in general are useless to most people.
Some have Kindles or similar.
Most people only use smartphones and tablets. The people I interact with don’t even know this site exists. You can’t speak for all consumers and are completely underestimate the desire for tablets especially as consumption devices and the entry level iPad is almost always on sale for under $300

I think Apple under estimates the potential with the mini and those who don’t alway favor the larger iPads. Portability in a smaller form factor is still key for the mini when you have those times you want just want ease of use with one hand. Hopefully Apple Pencil support would be a consideration as well.
Clearly, the don’t underestimate anything if the rumor is true.

Am I the only one waiting for a new iPod lol. I don’t like taking my iPhone to the gym I just want a pure music player I can throw about.

Yes. Ha. Who knows how well the iPod Touch is selling. But I can’t imagine the market is that big anymore. The Apple Watch replaces it, the iPhone replaces it, and with storage increasing and prices dropping, there’s not much reason to have a separate device. And Apples emphasis on streaming makes them less likely to support a music storage device. Kids want bigger screens for games. Who exactly is the market for it?

Maybe if they sold a starter phone iPod with a software sim like the iPad for use with mobile VOIP services only, but how much less could they sell such a device for than a real phone?

Wow a 10 inch budget iPad would be great news. Congrats to all those who love the iPad mini but I equally love screen real estate so the 10" iPad is the one i'd buy. I just picked up a new 2018 budget iPad from Amazon for $230 and i'll keep it but if the 10" iPad has specific hardware features i'll buy one of those next year as well, that's if Apple decides not to drastically increase the price.
