Ha. I love folks who think so highly of themselves.

See, I can play this too...

YOUR comments are irrelevant and also do not effect facts.

I will be as opinionated as I want. As clearly, will you.

That layout was hideous, regardless of the technological 'progress' it represented.

Class? Please...more like MS is aware they have stink on their fingers as well.

I'm not "playing" anything.

My comments aren't irrelevant because I didn't simply express a comment without merit. What I posted wasn't an opinion, it was Fact ! And I posted a link to back it up with proof.

If you want to engage me on this topic, I'm all for it. But come to the table with something more substantial than " I don't like it"

Windows Mobile 6.5 bears a striking resemblance to iOS 1 and just because it's not as pretty as iOS ( and by the way I agree with that) it doesn't change the fat that it Pre-Dates iOS by YEARS.

You can't say with a straight face that this is a coincidence. Apple clearly made a superior OS but it didn't come out of thin air. Microsoft innovated and was arguably the first one out of the gate with this kind of a mobile device. And I'm not even going to get into PALM.

The fact that you didn't like it means nothing. A lot of people didn't including myself.

The point it that Apple has no right to block others for any reason.

I have a sneeking suspicion that we have a case of Apple Fan-Girl as a judge making calls based on opinion. It's just as bad a making a Yankee Fan the Umpire. Gee, I wonder who would win

More likely, Apple was granted overly broad patents, or through successful law suits has been granted overly broad readings of their patents, due to the lack of expertise on the court. The patent system is a mess. That's why patent trolling is a serious problem and there's a race to buy up as much as you can.

The problem is a broken system, not an overly aggressive Apple. That's why patent commentators refer to it as an arms race. If they didn't defend their patents, then they might well be on the receiving end of a nearly identical ban.

Apple is doing what they have to do, and so is Samsung, Google, etc. The only difference is Apple is doing it better because they have bigger guns than Samsung.

Amazing. On so many levels.

How are you the final arbitrator on relevancy? You judge yourself to be relevant, me to be irrelevant. Seriously?

I can engage you, or not engage you, any way I like. Ditto for you. You don't get to unilaterally set the rules for how we interact. If you don't like the way I am going to engage you ... then don't engage. That simple.

It's ugly. You even more or less admit to that. That is all I was referring to. Good God, and you had to go and post it again. The nausea...

You appear to think I'm engaging in the "war" of who is copying whom. I'm not. It's ugly. That opinion is possibly important to someone, the point is you don't get to decide that. You can only decide if it is important for yourself.

My 'unimportant' and 'irrelevant' opinion may also explains why that version of Windows OS never caught on, and why MS has since fallen off the mobile OS map.

Maybe they will get it right this time.

Maybe it will not be ugly.

I'm honestly considering selling my iPad and Macbook out of principle. I'm quickly losing respect for Apple's management. They are behaving like children.
That's called capitalism.

Strange that a patent lawsuit would trigger matters of principle when Apple is working with vendors who put their employees through sub-human conditions and you haven't sold your gadgets yet.

Jeez, get real people. This is tech in the modern renaissance. Tech is bigger than oil. That's wrath of God money.

Go Apple!! Finally, some justice is being served in this country!!

Justice? You call Apple continually patent trolling to be justice? Clearly you're being sarcastic, or else a completely delusional sheep in the herd.

It won't last. I'm sure it'll get turned over once a Judge/jury with some degree of logic get involved.

I get the feeling you did NOT read my post. Nor did you backup yours I originally replied to.

That article re-confirms what I've stated ... its does NOT state Bill Gates, nor even Microsoft STILL/CURRENTLY/TODAY has stocks/shares in Apple as you claimed in your post.

Apple OS X has over 25 million users worldwide.
These users are using a desktop/laptop computing platform that is NOT using Microsofts. You can BET that Microsoft has lost sales: of their OS, and to a lesser extent sales of their Office platform for these users of OSX that chose NOT to purchase/use their software. Its a vertical business.

it does not MATTER of OSX is sold legally with intent to run on Wintel machines ... the fact that its sold at all and ships with another computing platform that fights for the same target market of customers means its in direct competition to Microsoft.

Your right M$ sold it back to Aapl but kept the partnership in place, and Gates helped AApl back on its feet. Gates and Jobs did reconcile, with Gates asserting they were never at war and that competition was healthy and in the end they remained friends...

Nor do I believe that Aapl feels any rivalry against M$. but they are not M$ largest competitor IMO. If I recall the one thing that set back M$ was US vs. M$ monopoly suit. M$ has been having trouble catching up after that while soft for the internet started growing.

The marketshare apple has with its OSX is nothing compared to the marketshare M$ has.

the forceable difficulties for M$ are the claims that the future will be the mobile industry IOS that M$ is late in the game, and if the Post PC era is really to happen, with the decline of desktops pc's (including mac) M$ is going to have a really hard time.

I don't see him setting any rules of engagement. I see him making valid points and you coming back with nothing to refute it. Sounds like you're just mad because you know he's right.

Right about what?

I think that screenshot is hideous. Period.

I am not, nor was I ever, engaging in the near ridiculous debate of who was first.

Good day to you sir, for the love of god may you never have to testify in court or be the one to present the case for humanity during the alien invasion.

Thank you :)

This guy responded to me directly. I was just giving him the courtesy of trying to explain the point I was making. Sometimes education is a loosing battle.

By the way, "patent trolls" are typically "non practicing entities" - i.e. they don't make any product. While the above companies might be litigation-happy, they all sell stuff related to the patents they are suing over.

Right. Apple does not make any product, Apple does the industrial design and marketing. Foxons and samsungs make products for Apple.

Go Apple!! Finally, some justice is being served in this country!!
Exactly how the F#ck does this look like or resemble in any way an iPhone... Curved top edges, 3 different buttons on the bottom, larger or taller... Come on you *****ty fruit company. I wanna file an injunction bc you're stealing on the behalf of stupid.

Samsung doesn't make the products for apple, they provide parts for apple to be assembled in a chinese slave market.

This is a quote worthy.

:D

Samsung should "block" sales of the iPhone... Really, if Samsung quit making iPhone components today, what would Apple do? Sales would plummet on the very hard to supply iPhone, and the new iPhone would be delayed for months while a new supplier is found and production is restarted... Considering the Galaxy S3 is already extremely popular, and is a viable iPhone killer, I have to wonder why Samsung keeps supplying the enemy..

This is why I'm not the CEO of Samsung bc I would've done just that and taken my components and told fruit co to go F' itself.

Well, I'm guessing the bond between Google and Samsung would be tighter after being trolled by retarded apple patent troll lawsuits.

omg this argument is still continuing? Wow.

This always happens when MR dumps an article on Friday evening. It sits there on the front page all-weekend-long and people comment into oblivion, which invariably turns into major arguments and such.

Fun times.

If there was no Model-T there wouldn't even *BE* Hondas.
If there was no Wright Brothers flight there wouldn't even *BE* Boeing Airplanes.

I get where you are going, but seriously, the iPhone set the stage for modern smartphones. That means others will improve upon it. That's just the way things are.

Apple doesn't own the smartphone, and they certainly don't beat Google at search (which is one of the four complaints).

don't forget that all siri is doing it actually doing a google search anyways. So how is this samsung nexus's fault?

That's not happening.

1) Samsung and HTC are being sued because they tend to appropriate people's designs a bit too much.

2) Apple's not being the big meany.

Call me a jingoist bastard but America needs to dominate Technology and

3) being subservient to companies like Samsung and HTC would be an embarrassment.

I respect your opinion, and I'm not arguing or challenging. I'm simply offering my thoughts as a counterpoint.

1) While this is what Apple would like us to believe, it's the result & ego of the prior CEO that initiated this action.

It's a well known fact that cultural differences are such that many foreign companies have made it a practice of copying ideas, products, or designs of American companies, then making small changes or improvements before applying their own brand to them. It's been this way for well over 50 yrs.

2) Apple is acting like a Victim, and responding like a Bully.

3) By suing, they are in a sense "being subservient". Why? Because they are reacting.

Personally, I'd much rather see Apple act the way they portray themselves. As a classy, brilliant, stylish, innovating company.

One that could choose to respond by not suing, but rather by doing what Apple does best. Innovate, build a world class new model that raises the bar so high, that the competition falls on it's face trying to reach that high.

Now _That_ would truly put a smile on my face, and make me proud to have stuck with Apple for all the years I have.

Instead, I'm now filled with frustrating mixed feelings about the company I once trusted & admired so much I became (and still am) an avid shareholder. I'm frustrated by a wide variety of issues, some surrounding Apples recent business practices & some regarding the apparent convergence of iOS / OS X.

Time will tell...

Except they don't normally accumulate nearly 800 posts after only a couple days, thanks to the Android users here who frequent the iPhone forums.

Samsung parts are products. Memory chips and processors are products. It's just like tire company makes tire products. These tires used in assembly of other products - cars.

Yes, chinese slave market assembles all the parts, essentially making Apple product, that's why there is a sign "made in China".

Those aren't final products for apple. The final product is assembled in chinse sweat market using components provided by Samsung. Hence, Samsung doesn't make, make as in, assemble parts for apple's final products.

HOLY CRAP I DID NOT REALIZE THAT, SHERLOCK!
