This will be the biggest thing to happen to the Apple Wireless Keyboard since the introduction of the Apple Wireless Keyboard

Sure hope not. If you read reviews of new MacBook, not much positive reviews on new keyboard keys.

For a major redesign, yea I think you're right that they only update when the iMac goes through a redesign itself.

Also I wonder if Apple will also update the chicklet keys to the new butterfly design from the new MacBook.

Looks interesting, but RF dongle is a deal-breaker for me. Sometimes I connect to devices which don't have a USB port, or which only have a single OTG/charging port (which can't be used simultaneously for the keyboard and for power).

It's better to use a Bluetooth keyboard. You can connect via USB with a BT dongle (if your computer doesn't have built-in BT) and you're still open for mobile devices.

A new keyboard and trackpad would be welcomed. My keyboard squeaks like a car needing new break pads.

Having a new Mac with force click, I always find myself trying to do this when in clamshell mode.

Also, I've been emailing Tim Cook for the longest time to give us glass keys on MBP. I have a $2k beautiful 15" rMBP and 99% of the interaction I have with it comes by way of cheap plastic keys. Just think how nice glass keys would feel on your fingertips?

When I look at my MBP I only want to see aluminum and glass... everywhere. And I certainly don't want to touch plastic.

Never thought of that but you're right. Apple should get rid of plastics entirely.

Glass keys sounds like an excellent kickstarter/etsy business for someone. I bet it would be popular.

Yes it is stupid that you have a white keyboard with the black Mac Pro. Those white keys show grime really easily too. I'd much prefer black to match my rMBP.

Force Touch Trackpad for iMac and Mac Mini

Quote: Hoping for a Magic Trackpad with Force Touch. A big problem with with the Magic Trackpad is that it's very difficult to use it on non-flat surfaces - Force Touch solves this.

I, too, am hoping for such a product. It is a natural extension of the new technology that would reach most iMac and Mac-Mini users.

Make it Bluetooth and we'll talk. The whole reason I use Bluetooth is so I don't need to use up my precious USB port.

Looks like an update at WWDC to me.

Plus iMac 21.5 retina. Or would they wait for skylake?

Normally it'd be a laptop update (MacBook Air 2010, MacBook Pro, 2012) but it's unlikely this year (MacBook 12", March 2015, redesigned MacBook Pro, Q3/Q4 2015) so it's probably Mac Mini and iMac at WWDC.

Skylake will be just for the MacBook Pro.

K750 Review

I wrote up a review for the K750 a couple of years ago. I just used it yesterday at work, since my external hard drive has been dying.

The biggest drawback to the K750 is it uses one of those ridiculous Logitech dongles, instead of using Bluetooth. Considering that the K750 for Mac is designed for the Mac, it would have made sense to use Bluetooth, which has been available on Macs for many, many years. Even my PowerBook G4 from 2003 has Bluetooth! The Logitech dongle takes up an important USB port on a laptop. Since the keyboard is wireless, it doesn't have any other ports to connect up other devices (mice, phones, etc.). Fortunately, the K760 corrected this problem and connects via Bluetooth.

I prefer the feel of the Apple keyboards to that of the K750, but the K750's feel certainly trumps the "squishiness" of older Mac laptop keyboards (PowerBooks, iBooks). But for ultimate typing pleasure, I rely on the Matias Tactile Pro -- so the tactile feel to a keyboard is important to me. I'm curious how the new MacBook keyboards feel.

As for power consumption, I have never had the battery drain on me, so it is nice to not have to keep replacing the batteries every couple of months.

That's a great idea! It would have to be Sapphire and would add to the cost but the top of the line should be top of the line!! Yes, new MBP ,SKYLAKE processors, thinner, GOOOOLD body AND SAPPHIRE KEYS!!!!

Everyone, let tcook@apple.com know that we want glass/sapphire keys on our keyboards!!! No more rub marks, shiny spots on the space bar. We want a nice clean feel.

Logitech dongle vs. Bluetooth

Make it Bluetooth and we'll talk. The whole reason I use Bluetooth is so I don't need to use up my precious USB port.

Exactly! This was my sharpest criticism of the K750. There was no reason that Logitech didn't use Bluetooth for the Mac model, considering Bluetooth has been built into Macs for well over a dozen years. Having to lose a USB port for the Logitech dongle is a deal breaker, especially if one is using a laptop.

The only real good use I've had for the Logitech dongle was when I used the K750 with my year 2000 PowerMac G4.
