Haven't seen anyone else post it but I obviously haven't seen every post so I'm sure some one has..... but I think it would be a good idea for apple to sell the watch and bands separately..... but hey, guess those guys at apple are way smarter than I.

Apple knows that they can't manage shipping and stocking all of the different bands or predicting which band will be the most popular and overstocking that one. I'd imagine that you'll see a bandless option sometime in the future but not just yet.

Apple has a 15 day money back return policy, I don't see the issue with buying a few of the bands, trying them out, and returning them if you don't like it.
.

Really--you dont see how wasteful that is? I have maintained in several posts the big story of the watch is the looming restock disaster

If there are this many people worrying that the standard watch-band combinations aren't going to fit their personal style, then Apple has a surefire hit on their hands. Because these are the fringe element, at either end of the bell curve. The center---those who are going to choose one of the combinations that is designed to look good together--must be huge.

Just cancel this stupid product. Divert the future billions you will waste to improving OSX, Macs, and iPhone.

I would like a little bit more details on how you call this stupid product.

The more I hear, the more worried I am about this launch.

You heard it from MacRumors, there is nothing but rumors, and if that worry you I am more worried about that.

Apple never marketed anything such as this gadget. So much buzz about this watch, they are afraid it won't sell well - that's why.

Advertisement is necessary for any new products: iPad, iPhone, etc. all gone through the same process, and is no way an indicator of their insecurities for the sales.

I like Apple I really do, but all of these "rumors" I'm hearing is just pulling me closer and closer to wanting an Android Wear. It's as if they keep restricting what people may want and aside from normal Apple price gouging.

As you said, it is just a rumour, but at the end of the day it's your own money and decision. If that makes you decide to choose a lesser product rather than a better quality one, I can't help but feel a bit of pity.

My take away from this article is how cheap and unatttractive the watch looks with a blank display.
I see this product being widely mocked: a late night show punchline

Didn't think of it on a logistics level.....

Ok don't buy it.... your non problem solved.

"Try-On" appointments ...lol...... You'd think they'd just call it "an appointment" Unless that's the Only thing u can do, which really sucks...

What if u also wanna try it on and browse after but not too sure yet, come back and try others on. ?

It's just an appointment..... is Apple trying to Say "you cannot move from this spot"

Nothing says classy like a $10,000 watch with a plastic band.
I read somewhere that the Gold is only worth around $895, so it's not really a $10,000 watch, even if they're wrong and you tripled the value of the gold, that'd still make it less than a $3,000 watch with a plastic band. The green would probably go nice with that.

Looks like crap when its not on the wrist of a stud or a supermodel.

Leaves me out!

The aluminum watches would look really nice with one of the leather loop bands while the steel could use some colorful rubber bands. One of the more interesting combinations would be a yellow gold Watch with a black stainless steel link bracelet.

So tell me, cause I'm actually curious: what Android Wear device lets you try it out in-store with a trained retail staffer for 10-15 minutes in the first place? And of those, which ones can be had in multiple sizes, cards, and bands of different making and color? And just in case any watch at all applies, just how many stores in the world are there where this can be done?

Lots of people are says my how this will fail/succeed, but I'm just excited to see how it works out. The whole 15 minute try on thing is kind of short, along with not having walk in orders on launch. By not technically allowing lines, Apple just lost a lot of publicity in my opinion, and who would want to go into a store on the 24th only to be told they have to order online? If pre-orders sell out quickly, and people go the the store on launch expecting to get one, the wait may be weeks or even months to get one.

I can't wait to book my appointment, walk in to my local Apple retail store and tell one of the attractive female Apple employees that I would like to try it on with her :)

i already know which one i want. and if i want to switch my band? well then i'll buy another band. simple. don't know why everyone here is complaining. waste of money? maybe. but who cares, i make it. my budget is good enough to afford the apple experience. and i'll do it just because it's that.

Jesus I just looked at the UK pricing, not that I want one, just wanted to see if the usual $-£ translation is in full effect... For the 42mm Stainless Steel you'll be paying £600! ($890). Haha, I think I'll definitely be giving this a miss.

This might make sense time-wise, but it's huge step in the wrong direction in terms of customer experience.

It's also going to increase the return rate on the watches IMO.

Haha, I can't believe the 10k watch ships with the same band as the cheapest option. That white band on the gold watch looks horrid too.

Yeah, because it takes, what, 10 seconds to swap bands? I never claimed to be a sales expert; I just said that it hurts the customer experience.

Because everybody standing in line waiting for somebody swapping bands around just to try every combination is obviously great for the customer experience right?

People already complain about standing in line waiting for people actually ordering a phone. Standing in line waiting while someone is just trying things on would be much worse and far more time consuming.

"It's such a stupid product, no one will buy one. I know I won't."

"No no no! Apple is doing everything all wrong!"

God I can't wait for this launch to be over with so these children get off the comment threads and leave the adults to sustain real conversation.

Such a stupid product that you bother to take the time to read up about it and the rumours about, yet more, you take the time to comment about it:rolleyes:
