So how many OSs do we have now? Five? Six?
That’s Tim Spindler surpassing even Mike Spindler’s most convoluted, disastrous times.
You want the Apple Watch to run the same OS as an Apple TV? How's that going to work?

Or alternatively pedantic: Apple has one OS (not entirely true, of course), with different user interface and features enabled.

Shut down device lines and focus on what you do best, which is NOT Apple Vision, NOT gaming, and NOT home appliances.
That would risk stifling innovation.
When I did an in store demo of the Vision Pro I went in very sceptical, but was ultimately very impressed by its functionality and ease of use. I can see its uses, and if it wasn’t so expensive I’d be tempted. But ultimately as a showcase of their technology it is very good.

Personally I think Apple should continue to try and innovate with new products and segments.
Yes they will have a few misses but if they did not innovate they’d get criticised even more.🤷🏽

Nope not looking for a new set of APIs that are under-documented, under-performing, chaotic, and well just not very well designed. There are still no complete documentation for some APIs that are over 10 years old and have weird undocumented interactions with other APIs.

Audrey would like to have a word with you.

Why would this need a new OS? What's wrong with using iPadOS on those devices? It apparently uses touch, which iPadOS has and it uses voice control, which iPadOS also have. So why?

They need an entirely new Siri if it’s a Siri based UI. They need to start from scratch, she’s just horrifically bad compared to every other voice assistant

You can try, "let's wait and see what happens".

Would love to see more waiting to see what happens here, but this is the land of "let's jump to hysterical conclusions that tend toward clichés like 'Apple is doooooomed' and "Tim Cook should be fired!'" with each thread. Waiting to see what happens isn't really a thing we see a lot of in the MR forums, sadly.

Probably an indication for the average age of users here. Note: I never said Tim shouldn't be fired 😉. In all seriousness, though, I do think Apple as a company, from a product and software point of view (I don't care about the stock) are suffering in that sense from not being led by a product guy.

Apple had built enough momentum and operations and philosophy of design by the time Steve died for Tim to take the reins, but we're in a new world now and a product guy is needed once again. Someone who wants the products to be useable IRL and wants the software to have the kind of details and thoughtfulness that only Steve and his underlings could achieve. Same goes for hardware. Tim doesn't have the awareness to understand the problem. And people like Gruber are asking Apple's software guy software questions he isn't aware of, such as not knowing the hands on watch faces have drop-shadows. This may not be a big deal to some, but it shows a lack of awareness.

iOS 7 released 11 years ago and shipped whereby anpp icons would land with a bounce on the home screen and you had to wait a bit before you could interact with the software. It was annoying. The current public beta of iOS 26 has the same problem. Steve died 13 years ago.

Can someone tell me what problem this solves? Why does this exist? How do people do what this does currently? How does this make it better ? I dont understand this product. Who is it aimed at
Nobody, just like the AVP is also aimed at nobody - just solutions in search of a problem for a handful of customers who did not live through mid-90s rudderless Apple.
