It happened to me three times but had nothing to do with temperature changes. Springboard would crash random during normal workflow. When it recovered it would queue up all my commands and execute them quickly. For example, my multiple side button click got excuted into accessibility short cut, among many other things (20+) actions queued up to execute in a few seconds.
Twice I could never get Springboard back on and had to execute force reset via the three button method.
For the purple engineers reading this post, please make sure we fix this SB crash issue beyond the temperature trigger. Thanks.

You can't pay enough money for a mass-produced product that is guaranteed to be perfect. Just not possible. You can argue that any product may not be worth the asking price if its flaws are unacceptable to you, but you can't spend your way out of every single product issue.
I am not saying that. All I am saying is that a person who has put $1000 for a phone which Apple considers the best phone yet, has the right to complain if he has issues.

It's tough to use in Canada almost anywhere for 8 months of the year unless you're inside. And even then it takes a long time to warm up. When you're warming up your vehicle, that's the prime time that most people want to use their smart phone, but you can't get it to register input.

It depends on where in Canada. We’re a big country and temps vary greatly in the winter. Never had any problems in Southern Ontario.

It reminds me of using my faithful old 3GS in Harbin at the Ice Festival. It was getting on for -40. I had about three seconds to take a photo before the phone needed to recover for about two minutes in my pocket. Fair play to it - it just about coped.

Do u think this is actual a software problem or something that’s hardware that they’ll “fix” with software?

I agree with some of the comments here. This appears to be a hardware problem, so I am not clear on how software update is going to fix it.

It's interesting to see a number of bugs and issues being reported. On the one hand, it's a brand new hardware. Some issues are expected. On the other hand, it's an expensive new hardware. You paid good money. These issues should not be present.

I am happy with my decision to buy an iPhone 8 Plus this year and wait for improvements on the X model in the next year and beyond. I had doubts because the X looks pretty amazing.

I wasn't going to make a new post about it (yet) but I have issues when the phone gets a little to warm, not hot. I found this out when using the heater with the phone in the vent holder of my car. It was set rather low but warm enough to heat the phone. It was extremely sluggish and laggy for a good minute to three.

A hardware issue is only one that can't be fixed by software. Any hardware issue that can be compensated for in software is really a software issue.

IF YOU HAVE THIS ISSUE, TAKE A MINUTE AND REPORT IT TO APPLE.

They don't know how big a problem is unless they get reports of it. The more the better. Don't rely on someone else to do it for you. The more that report it, the larger of an issue they will see it is and the faster they'll fix it.
