at least there's some communication between craig and the user base, that's good

the more feedback the people send the better because it's evident apple is listening

It feels like this release is worse that prior releases, and the prior releases were all worse than predecessors. Anyone detecting a pattern? :(

Glad I decided to not upgrade.

Stoked that I upgraded. Working great on my iPad with new features and have not encountered any bugs that affect me.

Of course there are people that will whine as if the sky were falling when bugs are found, actually believing all other complex software (controlling complex devices) is 100% bug free.

'its a bug and we are fixing it' seems the theme of apple nowadays.

Take a breather on the Mac OS and IOS updates and sort the deeper core of these and then move on. The update cycle is leading to bug ridden software.

I’m confused cause reachability works on my 6 plus. Is it the fact that you can’t pull down notifications when the screen is in the middle?
Did you read the article?? Yes, they are talking about the bug that prevents you from swiping from the middle to get to Notification Center :)

If they could explain what the purpose of invoking the lock screen from the swipe down is I would be happy. I miss reachability as well for invoking the notification shade but haven’t gotten used to it being the lock screen at all to begin with.

Considering the mammoth size of the plus models...it’s a major and useful feature For people who don’t have basketball player sized hands. This bug was one of my top 3 annoyances of iOS 11.

I actually have medium to small sized hands for an adult male with no issues, but perhaps it’s just how I hold it. I found the extra step and lag wholly unnecessary. I’ve been utilizing every corner of the 6 Plus since shortly after getting it. Granted I did have to get a case to add a little additional grip.

It's been covered, but 11 really is too much for earlier iPhone (as in 6). Probably all those fancy animations, where the views transition between each other, broke the pull-down part.

It feels worse because it is the .0 release that you are comparing with the .3 or .4 releases. iOS 8 took until at least .3 to work out all of its bugs (some weren’t fixed until iOS 9) and some iOS 9 wasn’t really a champ when it was released either. Remember that WiFi problem where the WiFi would disconnect every 20 mins or so? All things considered, I would say that Apple is actually improving its software QA for the past 2 versions.

As one with basketball sized hands, I still appreciate the convenience.

I wish there was an option to have the icons start from the bottom and work its way up rather than the top down we currently have. Top down worked with the smaller screens.

Keen insight gained from what?
Sarcasm probably

....

Anyone else just hate the whole lock screen notification thing in general? For whatever reason if I use the quick reply from the lock screen to respond to a text it will usually just close out half way through typing

Reachability should be converted into a shortcut for notification centre. Double tap to activate and instead of half the display empty, I see my notifications. Swipe down to see all notifications, swipe up to hide. Makes one handed use of the iPhone a lot simpler.

I think they should just get rid of it. Large phones require 2 hands, get used to it.

I hate to admit it, but I always thought the reachability "feature" was a bug :(

It happened to me occasionally, I never knew exactly how I'd managed to trigger it, and I found it incredibly annoying :p

Reachability, accessible by tapping (not pressing) twice on the Home button, is designed to bring down the entire top portion of the iPhone's display so it is within thumb's reach ...

So this is how I find out that I thought was some weird display bug on my newer iPhone is actually a feature. :) (Seriously, when trying to double-press the Home button for the app switcher, I apparently also accidentally tapped and brought up Reachability by mistake so much that I thought it maybe froze trying to slide an app out of the way or something.)

Same problem. Reachability does not work on my iPhone 8 at all.

As someone who has been plagued by accidental Reachability invocations ever since I upgraded my iPhone 5s to a larger-screenèd model, including after upgrading to iOS 11, I can assure you it is still working fine for me. :) I also now know what it's called and that I can turn it off if I want (but maybe I'll actually use it now that I know how to bring it up on purpose).

Cool, at least Apple knows about it.
This makes me think. There are quite a bunch of basic iOS 10/9 features that are mysteriously missing in iOS11. I mean you would think they wouldn't bother taking out features. I mean it takes effort to do so. It makes me think that Apple is doing some fundamental changes in iOS11, and thus those features have to be re-written. And they just list which ones they want to prioritize for the GM release.

I’ve always known it isn’t a bug but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t bug me from time to time when I accidentally invoke it. :D I rarely invoke it on purpose but it’s nice to have when I really need it.

Here we go...three steps fwd and two steps back. Yet another reason against end users riding the innovation curve too closely
