This is probably it. Mac Mini was rarely updated in the past so I guess this is a welcomed change, unless you buy one shortly before the update :)

Current Apple Silicon Mac mini is interesting. The "limited" RAM doesn't suit me, though.

If the rumor is true, with up to 64 GB RAM, then this mini will definitely be tempting.

I am content with the M1 I just ordered. If you play the "next model is going to be better" game you will never buy anything from Apple...
Well, considered that the article is not about replacing or waiting for another model and that nobody told you anything about it ,but you just decided to leave this comment out of the blue, it sounds like you are trying to convince yourself.

Now, I know people say macs are not gaming machines, but…
One of my favorite games is working on a Mac native client (EVE Online), I have play tested their alpha/beta of it a few weeks back and it seemed to run rather well - this would make for a rather nice replacement for my current Mini Oven + GPU heater set up.

Nice. Can’t wait to pick one up and still have monitor issues, bluetooth issues and numerous other issues (some of which haven’t been fixed since the 2018 mini launched). I’m not sure Apple knows how Desktop computers work anymore.

Frustrating isn't it, I seem to be playing that game.

I've now discounted the iMac after seeing the unboxing vids today, and was almost ready to press the button on an M1 Mini, but this might throw a spanner in the works of that plan.

I think I'll hold on a wee bit longer and see if anything more official is announced next month, and then either grab the M1, or wait for the new one.

Apple's Silicon completely revolutionized the Mac lineup. Now in order to attract more PC users, they need to focus on bringing more PC games to the Mac.

Put those powerful CPUs & GPUs to work on something other than photo/video editing....

I’m wondering how many variants of the M1 chip there will be. Will the higher end larger iMac also use this chip? Or will it be called an iMac “Pro” and get an even stronger chip? I assume the Mac Pro will not share the MacBook Pro chip but get something considerably stronger. Also wondering about that smaller Mac Pro rumor awhile back, what chip it will use.
Maybe this one...j.k. :)

It consumes Kilowatts (About 20 of them).

You know it's going to cost an arm and a leg for 64 GB :)

Even if you need a computer, it's often not a smart decision to buy something that is insufficient for your needs, just because it's the new shiny.

It really an individual decision. While you say is true for you, it's not true for everyone.
I'm not saying buy something insufficient for one's needs because they are impatient.

The Mini has become the most intriguing offer in Apple’s lineup. Because Apple can make Silicon computers so compact the Mini has the ability to be as powerful as any other computer, yet at a reasonable price (if you don’t have a keyboard and mouse laying around....why not?). My 2015 MacBook Pro has been showing its age, and since I’ve switched to working completely from home, the Mini was fine for my needs (software development, audio production, some light graphics work). I’ve been on a 5 year replacement cycle, but if the Mini shows real improvements in the coming years, then I may switch to a 2-3 year cycle.

Also, we are speaking of spending 2k+$ on something that we will keep for a long time (usually 5+ years, even more)
So it's not a bad strategy to wait 3-4 months. Of course, if you can.
