I'd love a 32" 5k display, if such a thing is possible. I'd also like a display that permits easy switching between a Mac and a Windows computer (which should also be able to control the display).

All that is available right now, but not all in an Apple branded monitor, in fact I was quite shocked when I saw for 1300 plus for the Studio you still don't get any controls built in to switch inputs. You have to buy a switch box.

Any chance an Apple screen will work with windows too? I use my current dell monitor with my MacBook and work-issued dell laptop.

It will do and you can even use thunderbolt to plug them in, but you will need to find a compatible USB C switch box, otherwise the only way to switch inputs on an Apple display is to unplug cables and plug them in.

If Apple made a 32" Mini led monitor with 120hz for say 1600 I'd be interested, but it's more likely they'll price a new 27" screen with those specs at that price. And stick to their 5 grand 32" plus stand monitor.

Also - they likely won’t because Apple is fixated on only thunderbolt connections - but it would be a way better display if it also can accept HDMI 2.1 input, cause then the M2 Pro/Max upward can also support these displays.

I have a M2 Max Mac Studio that I would happily attach to one of these but I am not upgrading simply because they choose to limit it to thunderbolt 5.

27” version of the mini-led they had in the previous MBPs

32” version of the Tandem OLED in the M4 iPP for new XDR

Apple is rumored to be planning a second-generation Studio Display with mini-LED backlighting for release later this year, or early next year. That monitor is codenamed J427 within Apple, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman said that Apple seemingly has even bigger plans in regards to external displays.

Specifically, he said that Apple is working on an additional monitor, codenamed J527.

However, he is not sure what this additional monitor will end up being, so it is a mystery for now. He speculated that Apple could be developing two different second-generation Studio Display models, and will eventually choose which one to launch. Alternatively, he guessed that the J527 model could be a second-generation Pro Display XDR.

The current Pro Display XDR launched in 2019, and the Studio Display followed in 2022.

Would they ever dip into ultra wide screen or curved glass? 32" 6K/120HZ curved monitor for the high end...

A nice-to-have feature I'd love to see in a future Studio Display is built-in bluetooth, so that the user can pair keyboards and mice to the display (rather than the computer) and have the Display pass through input events to the attached computer via USB. Then, no matter what Mac you have plugged into the Display, the paired keyboard and mouse automatically work.

27 is too small now and Apple prices are ludicrous.
I’m thinking a 27” and a 32”. from the code name j427, this is the 27” and j527 is the 32”, add the 5+27.
I’m sure it will it have better speaker, maybe 2 thunderbolt inputs (breaking their rule) then you can daisy chain multiple devices. Having the capability to tilt the monitor vertically reaching a bigger market from coders and desktop publishers.

The current studio display is what, 10 years old. And it’s still the best display you can buy in that price range. There is no real competition even after all these years.

Maybe Apple should work on bringing live presentations back instead of the lifeless whatever the frick we are watching everyyear since 2020
You know what, I was about to say “it makes no difference to me“. But if Apple had to do a live demonstration on stage of the Apple Intelligence features, they probably wouldn’t have shown it off before it was ready.

A “mystery” … “he guessed” …
Got to fill that “newsletter” … And throw rumors on the wall to see what sticks

I do appreciate MR posting about these though
He did give a model number though, so that’s definitely something to hold him to account.

But then the software engineers would have to make sure demos worked flawlessly on stage rather than features being faked in a video editing suite. ;)

ohh, now I understand why iOS 18 was so half baked.
