Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously expressed that he does not have an issue developing an app for Android if the circumstances make sense.

Steve Jobs is not just rolling over in his grave, he's rotating at 5400rpm.

Joke aside, it's really great that they don't discontinue Beats for Android.

Personally I'd like to see an integration into iTunes Radio.

have the carriers integrate the beats service into their payment system like att and not have beats data count against their plan that way your only paying for the service and you can stream all you'd want to. but push this to all carriers

Actually there is. Do you rent your home or do you own it? If you rent it and stop paying rent, what happens? If you own it, you get to keep living in it.

Yea... sorta. Do you really "own" the song you buy in iTunes? Kinda, kinda not. I can't really hand my brother a song I bought in iTunes. When I die, no one gets my iTunes collection. If I buy the cd (truly "owning" it), than I can do whatever I want etc.

We thought about whether we should do a music client for Android. We put iTunes on Windows in order to sell more iPods. But I don't see an advantage of putting our music app on Android, except to make Android users happy. And I don't want to make Android users happy.

Anyway, I'll switch over from Spotify in a heartbeat if it has the full iTunes catalog and it's built-in. I can't stand Spotify's UI. Tried Rdio and while theirs is nice, the app was so buggy I switched back after a few months.

And yet we still can't merge two Apple IDs.

Of course not. Apple IDs have liscensed one-time purchases associated with them. If you could merge them people would be reselling accounts with associated purchases and allowing others to get second hand liscenses, which is illegal.

Beats music, on the other hand, is a subscription service that requires a monthly payment for renting those liscences.

Yes, I hear you. I still buy the CDs myself in most cases.

To that guys point though: it's a big difference between "renting" (streaming service) and "owning" music (lifetime lease or ripped CDs). Should he stop paying for Beats or any of the others, access to his music would cease. Should he pay the $1.29 per or less for some songs (or rip CDs), not paying an ongoing fee would still keep owned* music available to him.

He's trying to find fault with music being sold if Apple is going to roll out this Beats streaming service. I tried to remind him of the difference of renting vs. owning... and that not everyone wants to rent.

I see your point. I think maybe the "owning" thing is a different argument for another day, even though it seems we'd be on the same side.

Unrelated but OMG

This just in, in a stark break from Apple's tradition of thinner, smaller, lighter, Eddy Cue has apparently increased his head size by 10% while maintaining the same body size. He looks like a bobble head. (9to5 source article)

That photoshop is horrible. Absolutely horrible. I swear it is so bad it looks almost intentional.

/can't unsee bad shop job. NSFW

On topic: Hopefully they can work out their rumored differences and bring a sweet new service to the public.

Replacement for iTunes Radio I hope.

I hope "in addition to", not "a replacement". I happen to like iTunes Radio's cost vs. features ratio. I would not be happy moving to a US$7.99 / month service when all I want is the service they provide for the US$24.99 / year.

But Apple should go after those who want the more sophisticated service and are willing Tor play the higher price for it.

So far it's going to do what MOG did, but with the integration to the Mac and UI change...

Unless they plan on streaming the iTunes music category, I won't ever leave spotify

Beats Music by Apple is going to reset consumer expectations of what a true digital music subscription service should be. I predict Spotify and Rdio will cease to exist within 2 years. Beats Music will have the best user experience anywhere. It will have the biggest library of music. And it will set standards that nobody else in this industry will ever come close to matching.

Actually, there's a feature in iTunes where you can convert everything you have to MP3, then pass it along to whoever you want.

I'm sure that's exactly what they plan to do.

Spotify is still years ahead of Beats in functionality, availability and usage.

Apple should learn from them. How is it that in 2015 a native music app still doesn't have crossfade abilities?

Apple should have bought them instead of Beats. I really think part of Apple buying Beats was to use Iovine in the renegotiations of the music contracts when the time comes. Jobs used to do that and I think Cook knows he's out of this league there.

Two years? Nop, at most, 2 months after the best streaming service in the whole Universe history is released

So they can make a tool for us to merge a Beats and Apple ID but not one to merge two Apple IDs?

Otherwise excited about this. Beats just isn't doing it for me largely in part to the poor desktop version of the player. If merged into an actual application (even if it is iTunes) I'll almost certainly be switching from Spotify.

And yet we still can't merge two Apple IDs.

No freaking joke.

maybe they'll also let us change our iTunes email to an apple one :mad::mad:

What's the difference between this and iTunes Radio? Isn't it exactly the same, with the only difference being that iTunes Radio is free if you put up with ads?
