Please...Please...Don't just use this redesign to drop in USB C and nothing else

The Magic Mouse has the same sensor and wireless stack as when it was new, what 11 years later or something

I wish it was redesigned to be more ergonomic while keeping the touch gestures, and allow simultaneous left/right click

And you know what just redesign the whole thing around human hands, this silly aerodynamic bar of whittled soap has gone on long enough. I'd love something like this, keep what's good about it (macOS gestures), fix everything else. Without the dimple in this concept it could also easily be flipped around and used left or right handed with some Apple magic to auto sense which hand.

Nine years later, it finally dawned on Apple that the charging port was in the wrong spot.

It's really not, and they probably still don't think so. If it's so important that the port make the mouse usable while charging, might as well just make it a wired Magic Mouse. Ether that or make an inductive charging mouse mat... because squeezing a port on the front like people seem to want just makes it a wired mouse.

The Magic Mouse could really use some improvements, but the charge port location doesn't even make the top 5 on my list. I'd prefer it be wired and not bluetooth at all, with better resolution/responsiveness. Most importantly though it needs some intelligence to stop scrolling accidentally from your finger resting on it or clicking. There's software that tries to fix that (Scroll 2), but it's far from ideal.

I assume most people whining about the charge port location don't even own a Magic Mouse, because it's such a non-issue.

Oh wait, nevermind, they're just swapping it for USB-C.
Apple's bonehead decisions are some of the funniest in the tech industry. The charging port on the bottom is easily one of the dumbest in all of tech history.... but when it's the company that's worth more than 3 trillion effing dollars, you have to stand in AWE at how stupid everyone involved was on the apple mouse to not see the obvious problem.

It just makes sense to have a mouse that you could still use while charging. That is not an outrageous proposition. The fraction over this is crazy.

There is no place in the entire galaxy where a chargeable mouse with the port on the bottom makes sense. I have a pretty good idea why people complain about it.
it makes perfect sense. the provided lightning cables in all applicable Apple products were not braided. if you plugged it in the front, your cable will damage easily after using the mouse for an hour or 2. instead they added quick charging. plug it in for less time it takes you to swap batteries and you have a working mouse. that's only if you forget to charge completely.

designers knew this.

it's all i've ever used since it debuted. I feel uncomfortable even trying anything else now and I can't stand when a mouse doesn't have a touch surface.
Ditto. I even bought a MS Arc to get the same functionality

I wish Apple would make an ergonomic mouse, something like the Logi MX master but with good software.
The G604 and G502 series both have 3 profiles and each has built in memory so you don't need to use any software to run in the background; UNLESS you need the buttons to change specifically per application. Either way, you could do that with something like Steermouse, Better Mouse or USB Overdrive.

Why are people so incredibly obsessed with the way the Magic Mouse charges? "Why is the port on the bottom it's so stupid", "we need wireless charging".

First of all. Most designers with good taste understand why the charging port is on the bottom. This is a product that needs like 3 charges per year of just a couple of minutes. Why in the world would the charging port be put where you can see it? It would look awful.

Second, wireless charging would imo make it uselessly more expensive.

I have full confidence they will keep the charging port on the bottom. Because I know Apple has taste.
