Nine years later, it finally dawned on Apple that the charging port was in the wrong spot.

Oh wait, nevermind, they're just swapping it for USB-C.

Nine years later and some people still don't understand why Apple did that. And will continue to do so.

I’m a mix. It depends what I’m doing. Generally I prefer a mouse hit the Magic Trackpad shines in a lot of areas.

I use the trackpad the most though because I have awful posture with the mouse. The trackpad forces me to sit proper.

meanwhile I stand all day haha.

For years I have been waiting for Apple to introduce the dark version of the magic keyboard without the numpad. I really hope this is finally going to happen.

I have an apple Vision Pro. I would love to be able to leave my laptop at home and I travel.

What I want is a small lightweight magic keyboard that has a trackpad built-in. I don’t
something with a separate numerical keypad that just makes it unnecessarily large

Imagine being able to use something like that on the airplane.!!
Have you tried the Magic Keyboard case for iPad and is something like that (minus the iPad) kindof like what you're thinking?

Maybe this would work for you: Magic Tray by HandofSeluhmet on Etsy

Magic Mouse with charge port on the bottom made sense (before wireless charging). I don't know why people complained about it.
It never made sense, my logitech and pretty much all other wireless mice out there use a plug at the front so you can basically just use the mouse wired while you charge, it’s pretty simple.

Also it kinda breaks the seamlessness of auto pairing as you switch devices, the keyboard and trackpad just get plugged in and automatically switch bluetooth, you can even leave them plugged in where you tend to dock and itll just get picked up by whatever machine you plug in (also they work as wired devices when plugged in so if bluetooth is having a problem you’re not SOL). With the mouse you need to flip it over, which can get annoying, and there’s no wired backup option

Please add multi device pairings, change to usb-c and move the port on the mouse. Refresh the design.

I hope the Magic Keyboard gets the inverted-T arrow key layout.
it already has, and has had it for many years: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MQ052LL/A/magic-keyboard-with-numeric-keypad-us-english

Forget Magic Mouse port location, where’s the inverted T arrow key layout???
it exists! see above and stop whining!

Apple's bonehead decisions are some of the funniest in the tech industry. The charging port on the bottom is easily one of the dumbest in all of tech history.... but when it's the company that's worth more than 3 trillion effing dollars, you have to stand in AWE at how stupid everyone involved was on the apple mouse to not see the obvious problem.
In what universe does it make sense to have a charging port on the bottom so you can't use the mouse while charging?
to both of you: the design of the magic mouse is actually a strategic one by Steve Jobs, Jony Ive and the rest of Apple: they really didn't want you charging the relatively small capacity battery in it while using it so the Lightning port is placed accordingly, so it prevents use while it charges which you'll only need to do for about 1-3 minutes giving you potentially days of charge. Or just charge it overnight about 4-6 times a year and you're good.

Now, if you could charge it while in use, you would actually be degrading the battery that much quicker and wasting your money on this cos you'll need to replace it faster.

Same with other devices, like don't charge and use your iPhone at the same time either that's just stupid. And for those on hee that do, didn't you notice your iPhone would get hot if you did that? You know why? Cos it's bad for the battery's health. nuff said.

---

But yeah as far as these updates go, Apple will just swap out the Lightning port for the usb-c and call it a day. They may even stick with the same pricing or only lower them by ten dollars or so... I really don't expect something fancy to happen to these peripherals this time around...

Great, I cant wait to see how expensive the new ones are. I have been an Apple fan boy since long before it was cool to be one. To this day, I have never owned a Windows or Android device, I am Apple only. But the Apple tax is getting high even for me.

I thought what OP was referring to was the inverted-T on Magic Keyboard gen 1-2 (in which all arrow keys are half-height), vs. no inverted-T on Magic Keyboard gen 3-4 (in which the up+down keys are half height and the left+right keys are full height).

☝️ This is my dream device, with backlit keys and an optional USB-C connection when Bluetooth pairing is not possible (for example, in areas with excessive electro-magnetic interference).

The current Magic Trackpad is unecessarily flat, and could easily sit slightly taller on the desk and/or have a slightly steeper angel.

The battery life is too short, which is an annoying distraction. I actually preferred the previous version, but Apple at least needs to make the next version thicker with longer battery life.

Less form over function, please.

I would love a new magic trackpad with a touch id censor and usb c charging. I love my mechanical keyboards, so I'd prefer the one thing I'm missing from apple keyboards.

(I use the trackpad on the left side of the board, and a trackball on the right).

My employer sent me a Magic Mouse along with keyboard, monitor, laptop etc almost 4 years ago and I have literally never had an issue with the charging location. It holds a charge forever and it takes little time to charge.

You just have to check the mouse battery status once a month or so. But to each their own, I get that.

I think Apple will spring for the ultimate plot twist and make the Magic Mouse 2 charge via MagSafe or the Apple Watch charger.

As long as I don't have to flip it on its back like a giant dead bug to charge it, I'm happy. 🐞
