Why are people so incredibly obsessed with the way the Magic Mouse charges? "Why is the port on the bottom it's so stupid", "we need wireless charging".

First of all. Most designers with good taste understand why the charging port is on the bottom. This is a product that needs like 3 charges per year of just a couple of minutes. Why in the world would the charging port be put where you can see it? It would look awful.

Second, wireless charging would imo make it uselessly more expensive.

I have full confidence they will keep the charging port on the bottom. Because I know Apple has taste.

Logitech MX Master 3 has the usb-c port on the front of the mouse (where it should be), you can't see the port. The mouse is also prettier than the "magic" mouse and actually comfortable.

Please know you're wrong.

Knowing Apple, they will literally slap a USB C port on all devices without any upgrades. Biggest ask I have is backlight on the Magic Keyboard and a refreshed Magic Mouse that isnt garbage.

I would ditch the Magic Keyboard in one second if other manufacturers offered TouchID on their peripherals.

Tim Cook must have called an emergency meeting about the Magic Mouse after that MKBHD interview. 🤣

I want a keyboard with Touch-ID only please. The other keys work better on real keyboards. Same for the mouse. It's horrible.

Because the last time mine dropped dead it was in the middle of a major incident I was dealing with. And it was on a mac mini so it didn't have a track pad. I ended up plugging in a crappy USB logitech one.

I've been a Trackpad user since I started using one around 2011. I don't like the Magic Mouse, and if I'm using a mouse on a Mac, I'd prefer to use an older Mighty Mouse (it has better gestures than the Magic!), honestly. I hope these all get updated with USB-C like everyone else seems to want, but honestly I just want them to be a bit cheaper to buy brand new. Give me the option to buy the iMac-themed color options without buying an iMac too! I wanna get an orange Trackpad and keyboard for my setup someday!

The apple magic mouse is one of the few mice that DOESN'T give me hand issues. Everyone has their own problems, for sure, but I love this thing. omni Scrolling is fantastic. It kinda sucks in one or two adobe apps that use scroll for zooming, but I can deal with that.

I wonder if they would switch to wireless charging instead of USB-C. Boy, that would be hilarious. A big price hike, too, just to pour lemon juice in the paper cut.

So much butt hurt over mouse charging. It isn't ideal positioning if you routinely run out of juice completely and want to use it while charging, but this mouse BARELY needs to charge. I just plug it in at the end of the day, or top off the battery while I go have lunch.

From the god awful puck mouse to the charge port no-no on the last one, question comes how do they screw it up again...

I'm presuming they do USB-C, and somehow change the surface of the mouse so its some sort of 3D touchpad, so the mouse never physically moves, much like a trackball mouse but same small size so the mouse never stays put.

Prove us wrong Apple, and hit one out of the circular park?

I can’t be the only one wanting Apple to compete 1x1 with Logitech with a pro keyboard and mouse. Even though prices would be exorbitant, would be fun to watch. Killer feature of Logitech MX is the MX Master’s magnetic scrollwheel, which I imagine is patented.

RF Harvesting would be really cool in the next peripherals, but I’m not sure if that would provide enough power to fully eliminate the need to charge. Update will probably be switch to USB-C, and I’ll continue to use my MX gear 😅

And it needs to be back lit so that my Vision Pro has a bit more lighting to pick up my hands as I type
Wouldn't that make it harder because the light would be shining upward and make your hand even harder to detect? Seems like in this case you need a downward light from somewhere higher.

If we get a Magic Mouse that requires you to flip it over to charge, I'm gonna lose my mind!
Only if they also replace all the buttons with a touch surface while they're at it. Just ship it with a hammer so the user can break their own fingers before they start using it.

It really is wild to me. The Magic Mouse is *objectively bad* and it's been their mouse for so long now, it's worse than the puck.

I cant use a Magic Mouse for prolonged periods, because it eventually causes cramping in my fingers. However, the gesture integration is absolutely fantastic. I'd be tempted to buy a newer model if there are some changes to the flat design, but I'm not sure how they're going to accomplish that and keep the gestures. The Magic Trackpad is ideal for me.

They should also make it wireless charging capable and have a mouse pad that is also a charging pad

edit: i saw someone said something similar. Please omit

I hopt they don't just add USB-C and that's it. Would love to see a major redesign of the keyboard with a layout like the 75% mechanical keyboards with full sized arrow keys, and the mouse to have rounder edges, smoother gliding, and a charging port that lets you use it while charging, and/or wireless charging. Not holding my breath though, Apple is all about doing the bare minimum these days so I'm fully expecting the same exact hardware with USB-C

Am I in the minority that I much prefer a trackpad with Mac OS? Windows a mouse is a must, but I love the Mac trackpad.
I’m a mix. It depends what I’m doing. Generally I prefer a mouse hit the Magic Trackpad shines in a lot of areas.

I use the trackpad the most though because I have awful posture with the mouse. The trackpad forces me to sit proper.
