copying the MX with 2 wheels? sure!!

Jobs turn over in his grave...

I guess they refer just to add wireless charge. Same form factor, maybe adding glass surface.

I dont care about the under port, I dont like the pads (too much friction and since both are long parallel, the friction isnt balanced in all directions) I removed mines and added a 4 points with less friction and it flies!

Also even lighter weight would be awesome.

I know the jockey disc from the iMac bondi was hated because its ergonomics (lack of...), but at that time I was graphic designer and nobody could beat me using any other mouse. two fingers holding it, the little finger as pivot in the table for precision... and faster than Lighting Mcqueen, just cleaning the ball very often...

I had a PC for gaming at that time, with a "proper" mouse and it was like leaving the Nikes after running all day to put on the comfy house slippers at home. So different uses.

A mouse where the hand rests totally means moving the arm and the wrist a lot, for quick moves this makes a lot of problems. When I work, my palm is fixed on table and my fingers move the mouse around in 3 square cms, thats thanks to the Mac's pointer acceleration magic . Only low profile mouses allows you control them jsut with the fingers.

Resting the palm is super comfy, but your moves depends on the arm, and the bigger the slower... (try typing with the arm, instead the fingers...)

So depending on your workflow or user case, both mouses, MX or Magic mouse, can be perfect.

I must be in the great minority. I likes the Magic Mouse just fine as is.
agree for the most part - is there anything out there like swiping left and right for side scrolling? that to me is the killer feauture i can’t live without and the ones with just up and down scroll wheels won’t do.

I'm amazed the charging port caused more controversy than the atrocious ergonomics

Sonnets from the USB Implementors Forum 43
How do I connect? Let me count the ports.
I love ports with their depth and width and height
My soul can reach, when feeling them out of sight
For the ends of being in an ideal place.
I love ports to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by cable or bluetooth-light.
I love ports freely, as men strive for right;
I love ports purely, as they turn from Apple's praise.
I love ports with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and my dear childhood’s ports.
I love ports with a love Apple seems to lose
With my lost cables. I love ports with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God connects,
I shall but love ports better after death.

Some of the Macrumour's commenters would even exchange a kingdom for an extra USB-A port.

wtf „scroll wheel“?!?
It‘s 2024, not 1995.

I hate windows, but for me the most annoying thing when I have to boot my mac into windows is that the gestures do not work anymore and you have to click buttons like an animal…

It would be interested to see if chimpanzees and gorillas would prefer the MX Master or the Magic Mouse.

I'm pretty sure gorillas would prefer the MX Master, but chimpanzees have relatively long fingers and might prefer the finger gestures of the Magic Mouse.

Both of them would prefer Windows, though. Why? They're animals!

The ergonomics never bothered me, but most mice don't. Personally i would love to have magsafe over a a charging port. I would say improve the geastures, maybe haptic feedback, higher polling and make the damn thing lighter.

That Magic Mouse really is the worst, because of its multitouch surface. Completely uncomfortable to hold and overly sensitive to any touch. You have to be careful using it, always being proactive about not touching the top.

Same issue with the Apple Remote on Apple TVs, you always have to be careful about touching any of it, otherwise it’ll wreck your Apple TV session by pausing something or starting something you don’t want.

Just copy Logitechs physical scroll wheel. Multitouch shouldn’t be anywhere on anything that’s not a display, as it always requires attention to function. You can’t just rest your fingers on it and continue on as if it wasn’t there.

A couple more years for an over-engineered mouse that will surely have some major design flaw (like the charge port is now), will be overly complicated and will cost magnitudes more than it's worth. Leave it to Apple to over-engineer a shoe box.

I had to adapt to using my opposing hard for mouse use after using the Magic Mouse for years and developing pain in my fingers from scrolling/clicking etc. Since moving away from the mouse to a regular one, no issues and things have improved a lot.

Shouldn’t need several years of work to fix glaring problems with a basic product like a mouse.
Unless they are using newer technology to be rolled out with other devices? Maybe the charge mat will make a comeback..? 🥴

Charging port is the least of my concern. Not many know,
Charging an Apple Magic Mouse for about 2 minutes should give you enough battery life to last for several hours of use. If you want to ensure a longer usage period, charging for 5 minutes can provide up to 8-9 hours of battery life.

Additionally, integrating improved functionality for 3D object manipulation could be a game-changer for creatives. A larger surface area and enhanced touch sensitivity would allow for precise, single-finger manipulation of 3D models, making it a powerful tool for designers and artists.
