All comes down to the keyboard. (Dropped the failed touchbar would be a nice bonus...)

And the software. Apple’s software is the new butterfly keyboard.

I think one thing is for certain for those who are requesting it, OLED for the iPad is not Apples vision moving forward. I think mini LED offers far more tangible benefits in terms of a wider color gamut/battery conservation/efficiency over OLED. But I suspect we won’t see any advancements with displays until the latter part of 2021 at the earliest, but nonetheless, it’s coming.
I believe you're mixing mini and micro led.
Edit: Nvm, I see others already pointed it out

I've been a Windows user forever and I have been looking for a new laptop. But quite frankly, I'm not enamored with Windows 10. I like the direction Mac is headed with the new 16" MB pro but was wanting something smaller. If this 14" comes out with the updated keyboard, I'll be all over it. I'm 65 and I'm looking forward to learning a new OS.

I really disagree. Apart from gimmicky nonsense I haven't found a single useful case that would justify the crappy bar. I'll investigate in FCPX but from what I've tested so far in there it was just that. Gimmick.

And I miss those F keys. Super useful and far superior to the bar. Just simple volume up/down is difficult. With physical F keys it was so simple and so fast/intuitive.

So no, TB was a huge misstep for Apple in my opinion. Just like the stupid keyboard design.
Personally, I find the touchbar quite useless

Why?

Unless it's OLED it's not a big deal.
Find other cravings than technology - I mean .. I am also in the same spot as you are but less stressed about it.
When I bought my 2018 15 inch I wents nuts because the 2019 was released... guess what?? Who cares :)
Just chill and let it be... make 4 years upgrade cycles when you see big bumps ;)

Save your $$$, live your life, see nature, visit the world. Much better investment. Don't give all your money to Apple's investors so they go to visit the world, see nature, live their lives ;)
Highly doubtful they will ever come out with an OLED iPad... mini LED is a stepping stone to micro LED, NOT OLED.

Mini LED, though not as show stopping as micro LED, to me is worlds more of a big deal (you know... 1st major use of a brand new technology) than “me too” OLED.

14" pro will be awesome! Also I hope they never use oled on iPads or laptops. It's a bad idea since oled still has screen burnin issues. At this point they should stop using the air name. They should stick with iPad, iPad pro, MacBook, MacBook pro, iMac iMac pro, iphone, iPhone pro. Since it looks like the MacBook pros will now be 14 and 16 inch's the airs(MacBooks) should come in 13 and 15. The iPads should be 7.9, 10.2, 11 and 12.9.

I said the same thing When it debuted years back. But after experimenting/toying with it, actually, I think it’s really useful for Shortcuts and even for someone that’s into editing, would probably find some really nice uses for it. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a ‘convenient tool’ that you have the advantage if you want that option.

Nope not a failure whatsoever. Having an instantly changing, contextually aware additional touch input device as part of your computer for industry professional creative software is great.

For a touchscreen where you're looking at it all the time, yes. For a keyboard where you're not looking at it all the time with no tactile feedback nor separation between "keys"; it is a nightmare. I don't actually like having keys change on me and I don't like to look down to the keyboard to see what I'm about to hit. It's an utter failure in my mind and I've returned my 16" rMBP just because of it. I've told Apple my opinion in their survey. I will not be buying any more MBP with the touchbar and I know for sure I ain't the only one. Most of the engineers at my company already switched to ThinkPads, XPS, or 2015 rMBP.

At the very least, it should be 100% stable. It wasn't. That to me is a massive failure. Keyboard and mouse should not fail in any situation. Apple has failed their keyboards for several years now and touchbar didn't make it any better either.

I'm happy that you like it and you think it is a good idea. To me, it isn't.

if your touch bar isn’t working you should get the computer replaced at your localApple store.

As I said, it's a software issue, it cannot be fixed by replacing the hardware, I already bought it in to Apple and they're aware of the issues. In the end, I could not wait, so I've returned it.

No take MY money!
I’ll take both your money.

It’s not so convenient when you are touch typing 90+ words a minute and random stuff keeps happening because your finger tips are barely brushing the touchbar that you never intentionally touch other than to adjust volume.

Are you referencing first major use of a brand new technology for Apple? I ask because Mini LED has been in use for a while now. I'd say Apple's first baby step utilizing Mini LED was the Pro Display with it's 576 LED FALD zones. I'd imagine these upcoming rumored Mini LED devices will use more advanced Mini LED tech similar to TCL's use of Mini LED in their top of the line TV's. Their Mini LED 8K Roku TV uses 25,000 LED's in the panel.

A while back Kuo rumored panels with 10,000 LED's for Apple and that makes sense based on the smaller sizes of Apple's products.

The MacBook that really needs a 14'' (or preferably a 15'') is the MBA, not the MBP. It's time to have a 1.20kg MacBook with 15''. The MBP is around 1.80kg for that size (15''), which is noticeably heavy when you are constantly on the go.

There are a few things that don’t make sense about this report, including the line “The trend for Apple's development and promotion of mini LED are more identifiable in five years.”

14" MBP is interesting in light of the discontinuation of the 12" MB. Could be Apple are pushing their laptops up an inch to squeeze back in a 12" MB or some such, at some point. As it was, the 12" and 13" were too close in footprint, this could defintiely put a bit of space between them and see the two products differentiate more.

Yes! I’m so excited for this lineup! A 14” MBP would be perfect and I’m glad they aren’t neglecting the iPad Mini, also looking forward to buying an iPad Pro 10”

Hopefully never. OLED > Mini-LED. Mini-LED is still LCD so would be a step back coming from OLED.
Next technology to use after OLED would be Micro-LED, not Mini-LED.
I think MicroLED is what I was thinking of.. lol. Oops!
