Worth Ave Group is such a better deal then Squaretrade. I don't know about you guys but every time something serious has happened with my iPhone its because it was stolen, either by being robbed (at gunpoint, twice) or by someone smashing my car window and taking it. Worth Ave Group covers this with a check for the full price of your iPhone for a measly $50 deductible. You'd be totally screwed with Squaretrade or Applecare+ in a theft situation.

So the company doesn't send you a phone? They just give you a check and you have to get a replacement phone yourself? Do they make you wait two weeks before claiming?

I know it's overkill, but this is why I have both AC+and Asurion (through AT&T), which covers theft and loss. Don't really care for the "total" it adds up to at the end of the year - I just do it for peace of mind.

as long as you know its overkill, its OK then.

They don't make you wait any time at all. You just need to have a police report filed. You can go get another phone right away of course. Either way, you're getting a check for the value of the phone. All other theft insurances work the same way... they reimburse you for the money for a replacement or simply send a check.

So i just traded in my 32GB iPhone 5s for a 5 64gb and $200.
It says I have Applecare when i looked up the serial.. How do i know if it's AppleCare+ or regular Applecare?

Apple also use to send you a replacement via fed ex without having to send your broken one back until you got the replacement. Not anymore. You send your broken one in first. Just like Square trade. AppleCare+ is great if you live close to an Apple store. But for those of us that live 150 to 200 miles away, it really provides no advantage.

I'm 159 miles away from my Apple store. I go there at least three or four times a year. In fact, I went there to wait in line and get my release day iPhone, I went up to get an iPhone 5 swapped under warranty a month or two before that, and I went up in the early spring to buy something or another.

You broke your phone. Damn. Make a day of it though. Two hour drive or so, replace it (usually in like ten min) and then have lunch or see a movie and head home. Still much faster then two or three days waiting for Fedex.

Oh, also, your $849 phone cost $179 to replace. Big deal, how about you don't break it in the first place? (I've had every iPhone since 2007, never broke a single one, take care of your stuff if $179 is too expensive)

(I've only carried AppleCare+ on the 5 because I didn't want to use a case and now on the 5s in case I don't want a case and to help resell come next year)
