Why not just thin the bezel on the 13" Air, or make use the same footprint and make it 14"? I'm not sacrificing an inch of screen real estate for retina capability.

LOL, anyone remember this?

And yeah, i bloody hate these "artists renditions"...

No...I remember THIS:

:apple::apple::apple:

Apple's FIRST Subnotebook!!!

No magsafe bothers me more than no USB A connectors. It's one of the features I really love about my Macs.

Why would Apple go to using speaker grills on the top of the machine, that's ugly. And I do not think one port including power would be a good idea, that means I would need an adapter to use a jump drive and pray that I have enough battery life to transfer files. I can't see Apple adopting this design. I would rather see that smaller usb and a lightning connector for power and the ability to use iPad/iPhone accessories like the HDMI adapter and things like that.

Keep in mind people...these are ARTIST'S RENDITIONS and not commissioned Product Photos from Apple, they are not official, they are mock-ups based on rumors alone, nothing confirmed here.

the speaker grill is also for ventilation since this is fanless.

I agree about the one port as it doubles as your connection port. Perhaps they could add ports along the back such as magsafe and thunderbolt

Damn, looks ugly this rendition.
Just afraid this laptop will only be suitable for email/web surfing/media viewing/word processing.
Casual graphic work on it looks like is an afterthought. I'll pass.

Renditions yes, but they are based on more than just rumors...I can tell you that much.

Wow I'm glad I got my MBA when I did.

The new one looks like a real fail to me.

Not even a USB port anywhere..... Basically it's an iPad with a keyboard. You can either charge it OR use a peripheral, not both. Which is pretty useless for me as I'm currently charging my MBA, and have an external DVD drive in the left USB and an external HDD in the other port.

Also the 13in screen is just right for me. I found anything smaller was just too small.

If these renderings are representative of the finished product, I for one will not be buying it.

As someone that frequently travels, this looks like the best of all worlds.

I suspect that they have some type of solution that allows a USB device to be plugged into the power plug in a pass-through, in-line fashion.

Like it or not, they are going to cite the lack of negative feedback on the absence of a USB port on iPads as justification for removing them on the Air.

Apple is neither doing away with MagSafe or Thunderbolt on this model.

This rumor is BS.

I am sooo interested in this.... but every time i see an article i get excited thinking it's actual news or release rumors.. but it's always just another refresh of past info.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not faulting Macrumors. Or Apple, for that matter, since i'm convinced that the long delays have to do with unavailable Intel chips.
