With the launch of the iPhone 12 models last year, Apple introduced a $129 MagSafe Duo Charger that's able to charge an iPhone and an Apple Watch at the same time, but it's unfortunately already outdated.

The Apple Watch Series 7 has a new fast charging feature that requires an updated charging puck, and that means the Apple Watch Series 7 does not fast charge when connected to the MagSafe Duo as it uses a standard non-fast charge puck.

Apple confirmed that the MagSafe Duo is not able to fast charge an Apple Watch Series 7 in a support document updated this afternoon.
MagSafe Duo Charger doesn't support fast charging with Apple Watch Series 7. To fast charge your Apple Watch Series 7, use the Apple USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable.
Apple may have an updated version of the MagSafe Duo that supports Apple Watch fast charging coming in the future, but Apple Watch Series 7 owners who already own the current version will need to settle for standard charging speeds.

Lol. Nonetheless I still think I’d buy it if I traveled more. It’s always been a bad purchase if not used for travel, so not too big a deal.

So, more environmentally friendly to make people buy new charging devices everywhere. LOL

Apple, quit claiming to be environmental friendly on your keynotes, when you contribute massively to landfills everywhere, when requiring a new charger to get max benefits.

Good move putting the price detail in the headline-- you'll drive a lot more engagement that way. If you'd written as "existing chargers don't support latest hardware", people might not come in here to complain as much and then the MR forums would lose all of their flavor...

Well puck [sic] Apple! That is planned, purposeful obsolescence. You don’t think Apple became a trillion dollar company without screwing over customers right and left, now do you? That is why they often change the size of iThingies just enough to make you have to buy another case, and now they change the charging specs to screw you over too. Steve was a greedy turd, but Tim is pure evil…

Of course not. This 33% faster charge is pointless for anyone that charges their Apple Watch with some sort of stand

I fully expect most, if not all, of the third-party AW charging systems (like Belkin and Mophie) will not be able to support the AW7's faster charging, either, since there are likely physical differences inside the puck to handle the higher wattage so if you invested in one of them, I guess you should write them in outrage, too. :p

I miss Steve Jobs. Crap like this wouldn't happen. All these excessive product lines wouldn't happen. Someone's butt would be chewed so hard it would be entertaining to watch. They develop these things like 3 years ahead and can't realize when they make something that won't work with the following year's devices. That's some serious oversight that I think Jobs wouldn't have missed.

I think Apple’s focus is more about making $$$ now.
